I need a chain

I need a chain for the R6. Azylum, my wife and I were out riding tonight when I noticed more chain noise than usual coming from below. I stop to investigate and see that the chain is a little loose, so I tighten it up a bit. ( No, I didn't over tighten it ) No big deal I think, until about 5 miles later when the chain starts to make a rawwrrrrrrrawwwrrrrawwwrrrrawwwrrr every chain rotation. I mean LOUD. Its so loud that my wife and Az can hear if from their bikes behind me.

I get home and pop the masterlink off ( its a clip on ) and take off the chain. I'm expecting it to be cherry red because of how hot it is. It was froze in multiple locations, all the way around the chain.

having said all of that. I've got steel RK sprockets. The chain that I just took off was an RK 520 XS01. The sprockets look fine. Do I really need another 520? I seem to recall someone suggesting a 530 because I don't really wack on the throttle all that much. I just commute.

I'm really glad the chain held up until I got home. I was expecting it to come all to pieces!

Suggestions?

Britt

stick with 530. 520 stretches too fast for street riding.

Thats because you're a poser queen... have you ever checked the oil in the 6000 miles you've had that blue rocket?

j/k

2swanga, Good meeting you too. What kind of rearsets are on your R6, those aren't stock are they?

Witchdoctor, do I need to change the sprockets for the 530 chain?

thx,

Britt

525 or 530 are better for the street.

recommend also replacing the sprockets at the same time.

yes change the sprockets. now would be a good time to determine if a gearing change is wanted.

Almost allways...chain and sprockets at the same time. 520 chain=shorter life span.

Get a chain with good o-ring seals... Change your sprockets with your chain. Better safe than sorry. Wear and tear is more important on a bike than a car.

I'd got with the 530 set up.
I've got a 530 sprocket and chain set up in stock for your bike.
