brand new 07 r6

I found a dealer that has an 07 ( that's still not even put together ), with a factory warranty, zero miles, normal brand new bike.. just very old.
for 7k

Is that something I should even consider as a second bike. Granted it's old, but it's still brand new.. and it's a decent price point, and im sure i can even get it lower.

thoughts?!

THEIF! No, there is only one, and some of you whores will scoop it up like little dicks.

But on a serious note, it's very real. Why would i waste my precious time asking about it just to ask? Just wasn't sure if it sitting, never started for 7 years was something i wanted to take on. I presume if it's been sitting in a crate, it's not being taken very good care of.

The r6 hasn't changed suspension, frame, wheels, brakes, or motor since 2006.

A brand new 07 bit as good, if not better (less stringent emissions requirements) than the new 14/15's.

If it's 7k OTD, take it.

But honestly, for 7k you could get a low miles 09/10 with upgrades

I paid 5900 for my 09 with 3,900 miles like 2.5 years ago.. I guess it depends how cheap you can get it.

Except in 2008 they did change the frame and up the compression on the motor. They also added their variable intake.

I'm a little skeptical about really old bikes that have never ran. Rubber(not tires) can dry out and crack. Atleast with cars you have to be careful with super low mile cars because they belts and o rings and other things could have dry rotted. Not sure if that would be the case with this one. If you want a new r6 and not pay the super premium of a 2014 then go for it.

Is the frame really different? I know the subframe and gas tank differ slightly, but I was under the impression that the frames are completely identical.

Regardless you make many good points. Along with those, all the expensive "first maintenance" BS comes with new bikes as well.

TL;DR = take your 7k and spend 5500 on an '06-10 with less than 10k miles and plenty of upgrades, then pay your insurance for a year.. or w.e

Here's the wiki, youre right on compression. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_YZF-R6

But.. I think the frame are the same. Here's an ad for an 08 frame fitting 06-11 (it was posted in 2011).

I love parting out R6's for that reason... SUPER huge compatability/market

Everything I've read said they updated the delta box frame and the wiki article list different weights. While the frames are compatible they may not be the same.

Agreed that you could get a good r6 for less and probably won't be any worse than the new one.

Airbox mounting on pass thru on the neck is different. Fairing side mount locations are different. Everything else is bolt on. All can be made to fit each other.

^ maaaaaybe.

I sold my 06 with 39k miles, running like a top... and Ive seen several others with 40-50k.

I'll be parting one out soon that's going strong at 35k.

All anecdotal I suppose.

PS- thanks for explaining the frame differences P!
