Wish I could delete that pic from my head now....

I know people think it can't happen to them...but the freeway is the wrong place to be riding that fast.

RIP rider...prayers for the family left behind, and prayers for my family bikers on here for their safety always....be safe my friends

I left work about 730 last night. traffic was all kinds of fubar.
Saw a boatload of blue lights heading west, knew someone really up.

Now I know.

I have seen that guy on the road before, atleast from the description.

happens, hope his family copes fairly well.

BW8 west was thick with traffic as usual on the commute home yesterday afternoon. A bike (looks and sounds like small cc, maybe 250-500) blew past us all on the inside shoulder doing 60+. Now I'm no saint and do cut through on/off ramps from time to time, but this was a bit much.

Glad Helios removed the pic. Just the though of it might look like is enough to make me want to slow down on the way home today.

Less about what/who you can identify.
More out of respect for someone that lost their life and his family.
It's not something his wife/kids/parents need to have plastered on the internet.

Just hope we learn from this! I can't take that out of my head. Reminds me of Brian who recently lost his leg at the track. Glad he recovered. It can happen anywhere, we just need to minimize the risks, and know when to take them.

Make sure you all have your medical insurance, and family covered if you choose to ride.

As in, life insurance.

I'm self employed, so have to pay 100% of my health insurance costs - AND they're not tax deductible . I ponied up for 100% coverage after my deductible because I ride (and track/race), rather than 80%. $560/month.

Sometimes graphic pictures like the one that was removed from this thread are the only way of getting inside the heads of the 16-25 year old male demographic and getting them to slow the &*&$*!! down. Something to think about. With the family's permission, I would think.

Applogies if you were affended by the picture I posted on the forum. My thoughts and main intent in doing so was bring awareness to this community about the risk you take and hurt you cause when you act reckless on two wheels. I dont know about you but I am personally sick and tired of young men with bring futures losing thr lives due to reckless acts and behavier. I am a father and a husband and every time I ride I have every intent on returning to them. Ride safe you guys and lets stop this foolishness. bless you guys and be safe.
Regards,
Edgar

RIP, prayers to the family.
Somehow we need to get the info into the hard young sculls.
The weather for riding is here. Please be safe out there.
A picture is worth a thousand words. I remember back in Brazil through summer, specially along the cost line where tons of people go for summer vacation, the campaign for the accident prevention was the real crashed cars and motorcycles staged as the real accident. Sometimes they even put dummies with fake blood which sometimes be real graphic and it works. Well, It worked for me. Every time I get behind the wheel I thought of those scenes in my head and made me slow the F down and be much more careful.

What an incredibly insensitive thing to say! You're calling on Darwin, and you don't even know the whole story? Really Sad

Yeah - that was a pretty stupid thing to do, idiot! It was neither your place nor right to post the picture and you should be terribly ashamed of yourself. Who are you that you think you are responsible for communicating this for everyone's benefit? What pomposity and self-gratifying attitude! Hope you learn from your mistakes, brother!

Note to anyone who ever rides with me. If there is some kind of mistake, and I am involved in a wreck, even if it a result of my own stupidity, or a situation beyond my control, or another vehicle that causes or contributes to my wreck, it is NOT acceptable for you to post my picture and make judgments on my riding, or my death. Hopefully people will mourn my loss, and pray for my family. Otherwise, keep it to yourself.

I had a wreck once - lucky in a left turn otherwise it could have been deadly. Yes I was going fast, but yes I was in control. My problem was target fixation on the rider ahead of me who went wide and wrecked - pieces and parts and him flying everywhere ahead of me, kicking up dust and grass. I delayed my turn for a split second and the ditch came too fast for me to compensate - otherwise it would have been fine. My fault - yes. Target fixation - can happen to anyone. Could I have died? Yes - my bike flipped over me and could have landed on me instead of going across the ditch. Could I have not gone down and instead hit one of the approaching trees and broken my back? Yes Would anyone have blamed Darwin? I hope not! Would I want my kids to see my destroyed body? No.

Think, people.
