Marquez matches Doohans record with 12th win at Sepang
With one race left maybe I can beat it says Marquez
MARC Marquez secured another victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix, matching Mick Doohan’s record for most premier-class wins in a single campaign.
The Spaniard, who scooped the 2014 MotoGP World Championship title earlier this month, overcame difficult riding conditions in the heat at Sepang to secure his 12th win of the season.
Doohan, former five-times 500cc MotoGP World Champion from 1994 to 1998, set the record by winning 12 out of 15 races back in 1997.
Marquez said: ‘I’ve equaled Mick Doohan’s record,
‘With one race left, maybe I can beat it. If I had a bad result here the pressure in Valencia would be more, but now I am free in Valencia and I can do well for my fans and just enjoy it.’
