Stolen bike(s) identified

The person in possession of the bikes will know it is me posting from our discussion, so I have registered a different username to remain anonymous.

I was involved in a Craigslist transaction today to buy a 2005 R6. Seemed to good of a deal to pass up and now I know why.

Long story short, we agreed on a price of $1,300. It has no title, and he spray painted the fairings and tank because according to him, the previous white/gold look was ugly. He tells me the tank used to have a dent which he filled and painted over maroon. Story I was given is his friend was the previous owner and he just raced it so never worried about the title.

Before I head his way, he calls and tells me he has a deal on a 2005 CRF 250R dirtbike that I cannot pass up. He admits to me his friend stole it but he just wanted to hook me up on a good deal because I seemed legit. I tell him to let me talk to my wife and I'll call him back. I immediately file a report with the police but in all honesty, I'm willing to bet both bikes are in process, are have already been sold.

He texted me a picture to show what the R6 used to look like which is the first attachment, which you can also see the dirtbike. Although he did not admit to the R6 being stolen, I would assume the chances are very high given no title, spray painted plastics, and he said the dirtbike was stolen. it may be a re-frame since he provides a VIN number.

Trying to do my due diligence here to help a victim out. I have the address, phone number, and first name of the person I talked with. He is located in League City.

In all seriousness, thanks for keeping an eye out. I'd like to know if anything comes of police involvement.

I actually went to look at the bike. Its a young kid very eager to sell it. Don't know if he stole it but the bike was in bad condition. No front brake lever, damaged all over etc etc. Plus no title was a big red flag.

You must have been the other guy in the area he was saying was coming to look at it. Can't confirm the R6 as stolen, however he readily admited the CRF as stolen.

He called me last night at 4:30am (didn't answer). I'm willing to bet cops got involved.

Yeah he didn't seem very bright when he was speaking. Nothing he was saying added up. But I ran the vin at https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck and it came out clean. But my GSXR that was stolen about 2 weeks ago also comes out clean even though its reported stolen.

Galveston County Auto Theft Task Force is served by Pct 8 constable- give them a call. Constable will jump all over that like stink on .

Constable is Jerry Fisher-
174 Calder Rd. Suite 127
League City, TX 77573
Phone: (281) 316-8711

-- I had a guy run on me when I was trying to serve him earlier this year, called him and he was there within just a few minutes to snag the dude. Very responsive. He has officers dedicated to nothing but auto theft. They are more responsive than GCSO or the other agencies in the task force.

Good looking out! I'm sure he was busy as at the rally this weekend. Lol
