2008 Yamaha YZ250F

Alternative for the discontinued KTM 690 SMC

Husqvarna (blue KTM) coming out with a true 690cc 75 horsepower motard based on the 690 smc which was a 650cc. 10 more horsepower than the 690 smc-r that never made it to the US. Supposed to be presented at EICMA next month. The prototype was displayed last year. Reliable and fast. I hope the bodywork is changed on the production model and it is a little lighter than the SMCs of the past.

Awesome. I'm not sure I like the bodywork at the rear. It might grow on me if it was in my garage and I stared at it for a few hours. It was cool how they hid the exhaust inside the bodywork. I'm guessing ~$12.5k for that bad boy if it makes it to the US. Not to mention a very long wait time if they don't ship a good quantity of them. I would definitely consider buying one of those .

OTD is probably $12,500. That is about what the 2010 KTM 690 was. Expensive when you compare what they were selling Huskies for before BMW bought them but about the same price as a KTM. You could get a brand new whatever Husky for about $6k in 2010.

If you could massage an extra 5 or 6 horsepower out of that you could have 70 hp to the rear wheel. Shave about 25 lbs off the bike with some doodads and that thing would be a beast.

You have an excellent sense of humor Brandon. . .I laughed pretty hard at that one, going to have to try to remember it!

One more week! I haven't found another factory motard I would prefer over the one I have now. I hope this is the one.

Are they supposed to announce that is will go in to production at the show, or will they just show one and tease us with no information for another 6 months. I did a little searching and came across the Husqvarna 450 supermoto. I didn't know they were making that. It isn't street legal though, but that can be changed easy enough.

I don't think we get the 450 track bike. Mexico gets it though. Not sure I understand that. Dealer in Austin said they have a kit that work wells with the enduro models for conversion.

This is supposed to be the bike they are going to actually release. They are also going to present two more prototype road bikes.

I started the Metro van this week to commute to work so the BMW is for sale. I will be looking for something to reinvest that money in if I ever sell it. I will run it by my accountant and see what she thinks, then do whatever the I want like always.

Did you put about 15 miles on the BMW so far? You should take it on one of those adventure rides that Maxgs leads before you sell it. Pretty fun. 150 miles of gravel roads.

I rode the out of this one, I put at least 85 miles on it. It's dirty now so its got to go. I wasn't expecting to get transferred so soon. Van pools are awesome, we split the driving so my stress level is way down.
