The 08+ r6s plastics looks the same as what he has on there so I'm not sure what he is talking about being super hideous. I can only assume he is talking about the good looking(IMO) 08+ R6 fairings.

It's 05 plastic on an o8 and I had to modify the hole locations in the fiberglass. I always state this in the ad when I post it for sale. I just don't like the way the new plastic looks and the real reason is because I like to paint. There isn't any consistant panels on almost any of the new styles after 06 so there's nothing to do cool paint on. Everything has the half naked, half covered look.
I have a customer right now that wants the Rock Star energy logo on his 2013 R6. It just aint gonna fit the way he thinks. Too much open area.

This is confusing.. you say you replaced the fairings with the older style so you could paint them and don't like the 08 style... which are EXACTLY the same as the 05 ones you have???

Again, something about the entire story seems... "off"

Congratulations on your one star thread, and your bike that won't sell even with 1/2 of the forum discussing it. Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. Put the bike on Ebay and let the market dictate the price. . .

HA !
Agreed. But I buy them and ride them. If I don't like the way they look, I paint them (along with the custom work). I don't know much about how often to change the blinker fluid or weather a Suzuki CBR is faster then a Harley Roibinson liquid diode drive.

For me - this has been one of the most informative threads on here.

You have not caught on that one of the main negative comments are that this style (05 -08 R6S -whatever) are NOT liked and it's thought that I'm "hiding" something because of it. So if I want to make it look more up-to-date I'd need to get the other style. I don't like them. It really seems that no one else does either. And putting those colors on there just made it worse.

I'm also wondering why, if there's no difference b/w 03, 04, 05, 06s- 08s - why don't the mounting holes in the 05 fairings from line up with the frame mounts on the 08 R6s? They weren't even close. Did something change on the frame?

Here's a clean looking R6S, that looks like it's actually supposed to be a street bike. I'd be surprised if he gets more than $4k for it, but that's just my guess.

I moved here Aug 15 of 2003. I had sold my 98 ZX10 for the money.
In 05 I bought an 02 GSXR that my son totaled a few months after. Before that was a LTD KZ 1000 and before that was a Honda CB350

So no, I don't know much about Yamahas other than my friends ugly 900 that his own brother stole and took to Minnisota.

The negative comment is that you put 05 fairings on an 08 bike and said you switched styles when in fact you didn't switch styles. This is the same confusion as the forks. You labeled them incorrectly as inverted, just like you have mislabeled the fairing swap.

If you put r6 fairings on it then it throw more of a red flag than its current situation. Change your ad to reflect and represent the bike accurately.

So to recap, tell the accurate truth about the bike and you won't look like you're hiding things.

I believe for the r6s they changed where the mirrors mount and fairings, hardly constitutes as a major change.

Davie boy -

Keep in mind that this is not an ad. This thread is a question.
Style meaning "style of fairing". R6 style vs R6S style. Although I hate the R6 style, it seems that because of have 05 fairings (which I do state in every actual ad) makes people think I'm hiding something. Like I crashed the R6 fairings. That never happened. If I put R6 fairings on- then I would be lieing because it's not an R6 (so I've learned) It's an R6s.
I AM telling the accurate truth about the bike. Also - don't embelish - I didn't say "major" change.

so to recap, lets get back to the original question.

Here is what's listed right now on MH:
I2ichain2d: 2008 R6 $8000
BrklynAssMike 2007 R6 $5200
imageOr: 2006 R6 Track bike $4600 No title
03R1testpilot 2005 R6 $4000 No fairings

These are 08s. I'm assuming all R6 not S and this is just CL
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4710190141.html $8000
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4724726951.html $5200
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4722410073.html $6000
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4710057735.html $7000
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4713507681.html $5000
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4699765647.html $4200
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4685110009.html $6400
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4657885231.html $6000 (R5???)
http://nacogdoches.craigslist.org/mcy/4693214236.html $5000

These are 07's
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4704067276.html $6500
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4687221854.html $5000
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4696199513.html $4700
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4695456207.html $4000
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4650413527.html $5200
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4663769441.html $6999 (R6-s)
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/4660421530.html $5500
http://collegestation.craigslist.org...689934250.html $5200

I'm not even interested in 06s but the majority of them are still over what I was asking.
I started out at $4400 and immediately dropped to $4000 OBO

I just don't see that it's over priced even if it is an R6S. It's still 30% below the average for an R6. How the 773H can $4000 be too much??
Ya gotta start looking at 05's before you even start to see R5's for $3000.
Why is mine a POS worth $2000 - $2500???

First off your add on MH is seen by a certain demographic. Not all the people here are your average motorcycle riders. Most people here are enthusiasts that share a slightly different view than ole joe blow hunting down on CL. It's the same as yellowbullet and racingjunk. People on those sights aren't your shade tree mechanic in Hutchenson Kansas looking to make a rumpty rumt 350.

That being said you are selling a less desirable bike to a crowd with higher standards. Yes you could find someone on Ebay or CL that would buy it at your asking price but that doesn't mean a MH member will.

Second your post is miss leading. 08 has two different models. The R is "better" than the S and yours is obviously an S. You can tell right off the bat by the frame and swing arm. So to a knowledgeable crowd like MH (for the most part) looks at your add like a joke or a scam because you are either lying or don't have your facts straight. In addition I haven't seen much street S models sold on here in a while let alone a track bike.

You asked for honesty and when the members here tried to give it to you got all hurt. You asked for it. It's not their fault you didn't get the answers you wanted.

I wish you luck in selling your bike. Someone will eventually want exactly what you have to offer and buy it.
