To answer your question regarding why it's not selling, it looks like a track bike and it looks like you're hiding something because of the seemingly oddball mods.

I don't think you are, but it gives that appearance. For track use, oddball mods (e.g. 08 with 05 fairings) sometimes make sense, but when you advertise as a street bike it's more of a red flag. I disagree with the folks that say people doubt the post because of R6r or R6s differences. The people who could tell the difference won't likely be the ones in the market for your bike. The people who ARE in the market for your bike are looking for something with a lot fewer question marks because they don't know you to trust all the details.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of used bikes. Because every bike with a CL ad has NEVER been dropped, laid down, or mistreated.... right.. It has to be a bike from someone I know that takes good care of stuff or brand new.

Basically, make it look street legal (since it doesn't currently). And don't be as specific about the mods unless they ask for more details and you can talk them through everything. Or you will have to be willing to go sub-$3k on a sale price. It's not a good time to sell either, since it's closer to the end of the riding season. Spring time will have more buyers out. Just my thoughts.

Nostalgic or not I don't like the color combo. I like the car just not in those colors

You wouldn't even be interested in looking at the R6(whatever) compared to a 250? - I'd take a stunted 05 636 over a 2012 250 for those prices. Yes, I would take a well sorted 250 or 300 to your bike. I would find one easily. It is what it it.

If this was your bike and you were trying to sell it and you KNOW that there is real quality, a lot of it, going for a lot more money, and you "know" your bike is as well maintained and does perform very well, would you just simply give up and say, "here, take it for $2000" ? I have bought and sold more bikes than your age and mine added together...yes, I would take $2,000 to move on instead of keeping the frustration going, my times is worth more and I don't mind occasionally paying a stupid tax when I do a stupid deal. Stupid hurts; but if you learn from it, it's o.k.
A few examples to make my point..

If you're refering to the Gulf livery colors. Those cars have near tripled in value. It takes like 400K to get one.

Doesn't make it less ugly in his eyes, I like the old racing livery for the ford gt40's.

The Gulf livery colors are only orange and light blue... Which actually doesn't look too bad. I think its the red in the bikes paint scheme that makes is much more offensive to the eyes! Just my opinion.

Ok - so you found some 250s that would be lucky as if they don't fly apart if they hit triple didgets going downhill with a tail wind. It seems rare if 250 (stock, like the ones you listed) will make over 90. And you found an 03 marked as an R6 that's an R6s and has been down a few times looking at the scratched tank and pile of busted plastics where nothing matches. A new nose ( wonder why) a semirepaired black front fender (wonder why. Would there now be a problem with those forks?) Has the same stock forks and stock brakes as mine. I would actually say that bike (with really nice upgrades) has had the living beat out of it.

I do appreciate the history of the Gulf Colors but each person has their likes and dislikes. Now with that said I went and googled gulf colors and did see a few bikes painted in that scheme that looked great. It is not my favorite, however if I had bought one and it tripled in value, I do like green.

I do like that lighter baby blue and orange, but it's a Yamaha, not a Duc.

Yes - surely it makes a difference what shocks, cables and brakes calipers and pads are on it. Once again I'm saying that compared to the other bikes on the market, other than the -aweful paint, it should be selling for a lot more than $2500.

I looked up the links sent by Tojo - Those bikes do NOT compare. He proves my point. If you want half a bike for half the price, buy a 250 or a beat to 03 600 that you will spend $500 going Austin to trailer that pos back and then another $100 getting it in decent shape. I'm even trying to get r6racer to test ride it an tell me I'm full of . If he can put it through some paces and tell me it doesn't blow awat a stock R6 or girl bike 250 then I will pay each of you $1,000,000 dollars. ($1 per year for the next million years.)

Not an R6S. That's a standard 2003 R6. In 2006 Yamaha split the R6 into two models the R6 and the R6S. The Regular R6 is basically the same hyper-focused track ready bike as they sell today, and the R6S was more or less a reproduction of the 03-04 R6 targeted at street riders.

The reason your bike isn't selling is it looks like a track bike no matter how street legal it is. People aren't going to buy a track bike to ride on the street, and people who want a track bike aren't going to buy an R6S.

So far as the 250 vs your R6S, any 250 will be competitive in that class, while your 600 isn't going to be close to another 600SS.

I may be misunderstanding your post but there is no such thing as a 2003 R6s. In 2006 they did the new generation of R6 and created the R6s that was simply a left over R6 from the previous generation. So that 2003 R6 is exactly the same thing as your 2008 R6s.

Yours is in nicer condition so I would price it at $2500 instead of $2k.
