Calvert is closer to College Station than Waco. It is just north of Hearne which is just north of Bryan.

7 miles north of Calvert I would slow down anyways. Calvert has strict cops and I travel through there about every other month to visit my parents north of Waco. The speedlimit is 55 and comes up quick on you after a turn.

I wonder if these guys just ride too fast and then can't stop in time when they notice the 18-wheeler isn't going half as fast as they thought?

I'm thinking it has to be that (poor depth perception) and/or "freakin" out and panicking maybe even a little target fixation? Whatcha think?

maybe he could not see with all the wind in his eyes(since not wearing a helmet) and could not perceive the speed or distance of the 18 wheeler.

I don't know how riders wear just glasses. I wear my sunglasses with the helmet and get all kinds of dirt and tearing up above 30mph.
