Signed Mrs. A up for MSF

She is going to Awesome Cycles June 2 & 3. She's going to take it to see if she will like riding and learn how to ride. She's seen so many girls riding and is very interested in learning how.

If she likes to ride then we will pick her up a cheap used bike to start with. I am thinking either a Ninja 250 or 500. Some have suggested a F4i but I think it will be too much bike for her to learn on.

Thoughts??

Good for her...oh, and since I started on the 250 I would say it's an excellent choice!

That is a sexy bike, but not to learn on for sure! I learned on a 1991 CBR F2! Dang that thing was heavy!

I would go with the 250...picked up my wifes 250 when she started for 1700 dollars and sold it a year later for 1700 dollars. It sold within a day. Very forgiving and easy to get rid of to move up to a bigger bike.

I think I took it up to 95 when I got it just out of curiosity. It might go faster but it doesn't feel safe and it wouldn't be much faster. At highway speed the rpm's are already screaming.

Not bad. Just asking. I had a friend who had a Honda Rebel and it topped out at 60 or 65. Went riding with him one day and had trouble staying awake. :laughing6

When my wife had hers I would be putt- putting away from stop lights and she would be red lining that little thing trying to keep up.:laughing6

but it will do freeway speeds it will just take a little longer to get there.

I've gotten my 250 a hair over 100 indicated ... but it sure did take a while to get there ... just needed to get that out of the way. I'm comfortable sitting at 80 in the freeways ... watch the crosswinds though ... I get tossed around pretty good at speed.

The ninja 250 is awsome, it will get up in the 90's and possibly higher we were 2 up and it did hit 90 while passing a Harley

i like the nija 650's. i rode one and they are pretty forgiving, can keep up easily on the highway, and they don't look as cheaply built as the nija 250's. sorry 250 peeps. i really think it'd be a pretty good started bike. lower seat that the SV and a little less power and torque that the SV but 12 pounds haevier, so it'd be a little more forgiving and wouldn't get tossed by the wind as much
