HAAAALP PLEASE!

Have an 88 shadow that just started giving me issues. The friction zone has become almost non existent. This is an acute issue, starting today. To any and all knowledge, the bike has not even been started in about a week, let alone been messed with at all.

Thoughts, suggestions, ideas?

By friction zone I'm assuming you mean clutch engagement?
How much freeplay is there in the clutch lever?
How many miles are on the bike?

Yes.

Just over 10k. Alot. I can have the clutch fully depressed, and I may as well not even by using it. Just going from 1st to 2nd is rough: having to forcefully kick it to shift to 1st, and near impossible to go to 2nd.

The bike has stalled and died several times with me just taking it around the block.

Do not keep kicking it to shift. Second gear is already fragile on nearly all bikes, due to neutral being between it and first.
You'll end up with mega expensive transmission repairs on top of the clutch work it sounds like you already need.

Adjust the cable freeplay to where it's only 1/8" and see if it gets better.
