Tire prices/options at the track- Fastline

Hey guys,

So kind of last-minute, I'm thinking of heading out to GSS Sunday with the GSXR, but am really needing some new rubber. I'm currently running the Dunlop GP-A race rubber that I got with the bike, 8-9 months and 5-6 trackdays ago, and I kind of doubt they'll pass tech this time. I've seen the tire guys at the track, but never bought anything from them. What kind of $$ am I looking at for a cheap set at the track? And I'm assuming they can mount them as well? I've heard take-offs are cheap, but I don't really know what that means, so is it worth it? I'm also thinking of a few used sets members have for sale here on the forums.

If it means anything, I'm planning on selling the bike pretty soon, just wanting to make it through one or two more trackdays in the meantime.

From Deano, lead instructor:

GRANDSPORT SPEEDWAY (GSS), the Lightweight's favorite track, tight turns and technical, it is an excellent way for beginners to understand the "Racing Line" and for the experienced riders to sharpen their technique.

The group structure will be Novice, Intermediate and Lightweight. For Advanced riders who would like to join our Intermediate Group, please call 832-641-7547. Select advanced riders are allowed in the intermediate group, but intermediate passing rules apply (6ft inside/outside)

Gates open at 07.00hrs and track goes hot at 09.00hrs.

Sweet Williams BBQ will be cooking up lunch again! Lunch is included for all registered riders.

As always, the awesome guys from South Central Race Center and P1 Racing will be on hand to help you with setup and Pirelli tire support.

The last GSS event filled up fast, so register early at www.ridefastline.com!

Tell your friends, and share the event on Facebook. Like our FB page to stay up to date on track day news and information from FastLine.

See ya there.

I say.....

Contact John at South Central Race Center. He is our on site tire support guy. Every once in a while he does not make it down to GSS. But, with no CMRA this weekend..... Just call him and tell him you need new shoes. He'll hook you up, new or used.

See john at P1 he has good take offs. Generaly 100-150 for entire set changed, but 50-75 for a good rear. You need to pull the rear wheel or it cost another 25-30. If you need help with pulling just come find my old blue motor home and black cargo trailer, I'll help pull it. I have everything

I believe John Hutchinson with South Central will be there. He usually carries take offs although I am unsure of the price.

Is ur KTM still broke?

http://scracecenter.com/Pirelli.html

Tire prices above

U can buy take off from these guys at the track too. Take offs are just used tires that have some tread left on them for track days.....

$10 each to mount and balance, maybe $15, not sure.

Takeoffs, $75 for a cheap set. $150 for very nice used. Figure on $350+ for new, but I don't know Pirelli prices.

Mounting does not include taking the rims off your bike. Look for anyone in a BRAWP shirt...we'll get it done for you. Or hit up Chad, Magicman, he does it for a minimal fee and it is done right.

BTW, if anybody needs a 160/60ZR17 size tire (SV650, CBR500, etc) I have a Pirelli Diablo Rossso II that probably has just 500 miles on it. It came off a wheel I bought for my SV. But I run dot race tires so I don't have any use for it. Maybe 60 bucks or another decent offer?

I may buy that off of u. I bought a slightly used Rosso 2 and just had it installed. Depending how they perform at GSS, Ill either get another Rosso 2 or corsa rosso. Im running a Corsa Rosso front (need to install as I have a Q3 on now) and a Rosso 2 rear on my tard. Going to see how well they perform as Ive never had Perellis before.

john is the pirelli vendor, he will have take offs with him just messaged him and he said he has some. He has two different types of pirelli sets, there is a more cost friendly set which still has great grip and then there is the nice set with the newer compound which is little more pricier w/ tax. if you need pricing on the sets i can message him if really needed.

i'll be cornerworking that day, if you need help with the wheels or anything that morning let me know. its a lot easier to put the wheels back on when you have a extra hand. you will love the pirellis because i have really enjoyed them this year. also mention the new superbike pro compound, that might be a tire that would be good for you but john will get you set up right for sure, and knows much more.

Wow....thanks for the quick responses. I'll definitely need the help from one of you on Sunday- I've never taken a wheel off this bike before. I'll plan on seeing John then and see what he can do. Thanks, see y'all there.
