Right it doesn't seem entirely unreasonable to me. If some guy is hard up for cash, has a sport bike and he is willing to leave a deposit, why not?

Did it ever occur to you that with a large enough deposit, they may not care if he knows what he is doing or not?

SV650S would be a great track bike. Loan him yours.

That's exactly why I offered mine with a $2500 deposit. You break it, I still come out ahead.

The idiotic part of this thread is that if you want a track bike enough to rent one AND leave a significant deposit, you can just buy a cheaper bike to use for track days.

There are fully sorted older CBR track bikes out there for 2K-3K.

http://www.cmraracing.com/showthread...-Bike-For-Sale

http://www.cmraracing.com/showthread...ssic-Race-Bike

Or, you can grab a street bike and tape it up for 1500.

http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/4674235389.html

http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/4625547209.html

All of these examples could be purchased, used as a track bike, then sold on for what they were purchased for.
