What happened to all the MSR Houston faithfull???

The announcement of a second round at MSRH for 2014 was met with quite a bit of excitement.

Now we are just a few days away from that round and we only have 167 pre-entries.

More importantly we DO NOT have enough corner workers at this point for even ONE per corner.

What happened to all that excitement???

This is an honest question...

Lets see...

COTA took a lot of peoples monies...

-3 TD orgs and private days at that track in the last month.

Also the weather is a huge factor. Those with championships on the line are the ones what will be the faithful this weekend.

If I had the $ I would be there racing!

Weather, perhaps, for some.

Can I corner work with out having taking the CMRA license and if so, would it count toward the license when I start the process?

Yes you can work corners any time.

Let me look into the second question.

The people that are racing competitively will be there regardless of weather.

Same thing that happend to Ride Smart and fl the past couple weekends was the weather. Lstd and cmra are going to experience the same

he's not talking participants for grids at a trackday....he's talking racing entries for an entire weekend....and some of those entries are probably 8 lap sprints for a class or three. Have ya seen the forecast though? Weather forcast on the top of this page doesn't look too promising.

The way I understood the rule book is you have to have your prov nov license for it to count. Corner work and get $60. It's fun to watch and you can learn a ton. I corner worked twice before getting my prov nov and then corner worked again for my requirements.

I would definitely say weather plays a huge role in entries. It does for my bbe team and for my grom entry. I'll wait till that morning to see what weather will be like.

If I still had a license, I wouldn't be signed up till I knew the weather was going to be good. But I was never a competitive racer nor do I think I'll ever be.

I'm playing it by ear. I'll be there with the SV all weekend but don't plan to ride in the wet. I do it at track days and it's not a biggie but I'd rather race a dry track since I'm not in any points race.

And I think the earlier post is right that you need your prov nov license for corner working to count, because you get signoff on the prov nov paper license itself. No prov nov license, no signoff.

The guys I know racing for points are registered however the ones who just want go play are waiting to see what mother nature holds. I cant blame them. If they are just racing for experience and on a low budget why pre register with a week long forecast of rain.

Hopefully we'll get more race entries, otherwise the chances of CMRA doing 2 rounds next year are gone. CMRA is a business and they have to make money like the rest of us.

Quote from CMRA board:
I usually leave the office with @ 250 pre-entries; I currently have @ 150. Cancellations because of weather, I guess.

Less than 1 corner worker per corner 3 days before the race begins.

I don't know who is filling up the hotels, but from preliminary numbers, it isn't CMRA racers or corner workers.

As I said in another thread...this doesn't bode well for two rounds at MSRH next year.

Weather forecast on our Home Page: http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/ang...t/335900?day=4

Also, I think comparing the numbers against the first round of the year at msrh is different. You had a lot of people do pre registration because they needed to get a good spot on the grid. Now this is the 2nd to last round of the year, the people who have a chance of podiums/winning this year has changed dramatically from the beginning

I only preregister the 1st round.

Although I have been waiting several months for this round, with the rain forecast, I doubt I will race unless the track is dry. I'm not in the championship points, so don't plan to take a chance of wadding up my bike in the rain a few weeks before Nationals.

With the crappy weather forecast, only the championship leaders are going to race.

Kinda upsets me with the whole "As I said in another thread...this doesn't bode well for two rounds at MSRH next year." It has nothing to do with the track. The same low attendance would have happened at any of the venues considering the weather forecast. CMRA has been doing this long enough, they should know that rain = low attendance at any track.
