do you gear up in the summer?

ok, someone turned up the broiler outside(todays temps notwithstanding) and its soon going to be unbearable.

i am wondering how much gear do ya'll use in the summer heat.

i never ride w/out a helmet, gloves, and boots, and i always wear some sort of long pants, but i just dont think i will be able to deal with wearing a jacket when its 98 in the shade, even a mesh jacket is like being in a toaster oven.

i feel more secure wearing it, but i can only stand so much heat.

opinions?

Perf leather for me - don't feel comfortable with textile.

Seems like there is always a compromise with bikes.

My skin - I'm kinda attached to it and I want to keep it that way :icon_smil

Perf leather or mesh. If you want cheap ac wear full mesh gear and pour water all over your self! You will be dry in no time and it keeps you nice and cool for 30 minutes or so.

+1...better to be hot for a few hours than covered in road rash for a few weeks.

I wont put a leg over without long pants, boots over the ankle, gloves, helmet, and armored jacket. Thats as casual as i get on the bike.
Honestly, if its too hot to put the gear on, then i just wont ride.
Plus, when you're wearing full gear, stop at a light and sweat buckets, its a great a/c when you get back up to speed and start drying that sweat out.

I wear a Joerocket riot jacket on the hot days. Its a very minimal textile jacket with elbow and shoulder plates, plus an articulated spine pad.

Summer, I always wear Fieldsheer mesh jacket, gloves, helmet, and boots (boots if I am riding on a backroad run). i would rather sweat my off then go down with nothing.

Edit: Oh, and a under armor shirt under the mesh jacket feels good.

Full gear here, I wear mesh in the summer. I would rather sweat my @$$ off than grind it off on 290! Easier to shower than it is to change bandages or deal with other injuries. Get good vented riding boots too, too many people (including myself) ride with out them and all it takes is one spill to convince you that you should have had them on to begin with.

^^and if you dont want to wear actual moto boots, then at least wear a leather boot that goes over your ankle.

If we can see your ankle, youre in for some hurtin'.

You actually stay cooler if you are covered up. Look at the guys working outside. Most are wearing long sleeves, necks/face covered up, long pants, etc. A jacket while riding will produce sweat and while riding will keep you cooler than just wearing a t-shirt.

I usually wear full gear all year.

But as of latley, I've been rolling with shorts and flip flops only.

But I do wear my sunglasses so I don't get dirt in my eyes.

Full gear with armor here. I always wear leather with armor when the temperature allows, otherwise it's mesh gear with armor. Although recently I've been reading upon just how well or not well mesh gear holds up. I may be looking for some good perfed leather too.

Just hydrate yourself well and enjoy. There's also some cooling vests I've heard of that keep your body temp down. Anybody have any experience with those?
