Fixed Pegs on Street bikes

Was having a discussion yesterday and thought I'd pose the question to the brilliant minds of Motohouston. So how many of you are running fixed pegs on your street bikes?

My take is that on a street bike unless you're looking for extra grip with your feet, they are pretty much overkill. Even then the aggressive ones can eat through a boot sole pretty quick.

They do provide better feed back and generally come with adjustable rearsets so you can move the the pegs up or pack to prevent scraping(Hanging off the bike accomplishes the same thing until you're at imprudent paces for the street)

So Thoughts

I run skelatonized slash cuts.. they still fold but give extra grip and an extra 3/4 in clearance at the tips.

same as these but I've had them a while and don't recall the exact brand

One possible justification is, they can act as a case saver.

not a sportbike but I have them on one my HDs. Gotta say I don't like them and see them as dangerous. I actually know a guy who has the exact same forward controls and he had one dig into the pavement on a curve last year and (as you'd expect), up comes the rear tire from the pavement and there goes all your control. "crash"

If you purchase good quality sets. Some are popular yet made of cheap material and can break on impact quite easily.

OP in my opinion anything other than stock that is not used for track/racing is for ascetics and to each is own. I'm not saying there is nothing wrong with "customizing" your bike I'm just saying for street riding most of it doesn't have a justification over personal satisfaction. I.E. spending a few thousand dollars on the lightest and most efficient exhaust system that saves you a few pounds and picks up a few HP. I guess that will help get you to the next stop light a wee bit faster but really it was bought because titanium looks cool and the exhaust sounds like .

stock pegs are fine for the street. I wouldn't pay 600 for rearsets on a track bike lol

paired with frame sliders they could provide some damage control on a low speed crash though.
