just gear up, jacket gloves helmet (boots and riding pants are a huge plus) and check yer tire pressures so those tires last longer. im sure other members can give you more tips

Thanks, yeah I am still learning about bikes so trying to do all the maintenance before I really start riding a lot. Got all my gear but its so hot in Houston, probably gonna have to get a thinner jacket.

it is hot in houston, but if you get a good ventilated jacket then you will be fine when the bike is moving, sitting at lights will be a little annoying but not too bad. leather jackets are more protective and there are some with good ventilation but i found the textile jackets (less protection) have slightly better ventilation. for a faster bike like that, id say go for a leather jacket though because again when youre moving you'll be fine. the sponsers on here will hook you up with discounts also, check out house of paint if you need to order anything and tell em youre off of motohouston so they'll give you a discount

welcome.

working on your bike is a great way to get to know the mechanic of things, I love doing it.

All gears at all time.

I only have textile, but looking to upgrade to leather jacket.

Best advise I can give you....... Get to a trackday and always wear good quality gear.

Trackdays teach you how to handle a sportbike at higher speeds (cornering, braking, etc). You will learn more in one trackday than you would in months of street riding.

Most organizations offer free gear rental also.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to shoot me a private message.

Hope to see you at a trackday soon.
