Bridgestone tires: S20 front / T30 rear

Anyone running a S20 front/T30 rear combo yet? I ran the 016 front / 023 rear that did pretty well with decent mileage. Curious to see how the "new" generation of stones are. They will be going on a TL1000R, all street/"spirited" pace.

I did the exact same thing that you did previously with the 16/23 combo on my 06 VFR800. Mostly commuting with the occasional corner I got 8500 out of the rear and over 10K out of the front (surprised me).

Now I'm running the T30's front and rear. So far with about 800 miles they're very stable with a good ride on the heavy VFR. The grip is very acceptable but I haven't had a chance to push it hard. I mainly went T30 on the front for better wet weather grip as I ride rain or shine on less than ideal surfaces and the BT-016 would give up quicker than I would have liked in the wet.

I THINK i saw that Bevo has T30s on his CBR, so you may hit him up if he doesn't see the thread.

Congrats on 10k out of the front... I didn't note my mileage. Thus, I don't recall exact numbers, just mainly use my trip meter. After 40K why bother to keep count? If I recall I probably got maybe 6K (EST) out of the 016 front (sides wore out before the center), and right around that time the rear was done in the middle (from when I used to commute).
towards the end I did more weekend 200+ twisties.

My front 16 was the smoothest worn tire I've ever seen. It was down to the wear bars evenly side to side with practically no flat spot at all. The rear 23 was pretty flat with a lot of cupping on the side. But my rear shock is shot, so I'm sure it wasn't nice to the tire.

Bevo has S20 front/T30 rear combo. Probably what I'll do next since they're significantly cheaper than PP3/PR4.

I have the T30 on both front and rear of my ZRX and I had the S20 on my Speed Triple. Just did 900 mile trip on the T30 and was very happy with the grip. They seem to heat up quick and even got them to bead up a little bit on Chief Joseph Highway when pushing it a bit. I previously ran the BT023/16 combo on the Speed Triple and so far the T30 set seems great with plenty of grip in the front for my heavy ZRX.

That's exactly what I have on my CBR right now. The first T-30 Rear only lasted 4,500 miles. I'm on the second T-30 rear with the original S20 Front. I think the S20 has 7,900 miles on it but I'll have to check my records. I'm happy with this set up as far as grip. Hoping to get more miles out of the T-30 rear

I always use the manufacturers recommended size on my bikes, but that's just me. I double checked and do have about 7,900 miles on the S20 front.

If you commute stick with the 150. If you just weekend ride go with the 55. I put a 50 on the CBR and did not like it at all. Would much rather have the nimbleness of the taller 55.

That rule doesn't work for me because each weekend ride I do is much longer than my weeks worth of commuting

Remember that for the rest of this month, Bridgestone has a $40 rebate when you purchase a set of S20 or T30 tires. Also available if you want the S20/T30 combo. I have Bridgestone tires on sale, $249 for a set with 120/70-17 front and 190/50-17 rear. This price is before the $40 rebate. 281-392-8850, ask for Bill in parts.

Well, I tried out the T30 pair in their element today. I rode home from the Galleria out the 290 HOV in pretty much a driving rain, standing water 3-6 inches deep, and water running across the road. The T30s had excellent grip. For a commuting ride on slippery surface streets, the T30 performed with much more confidence than the BT-016 front ever did in the wet. And of course it should, given the much wider tread and probably more silica for wet traction. In places where before it was easy to feel the 16 get close to the limit of traction, the T30 stayed firmly planted with never a bit of a wiggle.

So I'm sure I give up dry, at-the-limit performance compared to the T20 but for a wet and nasty commute on greasy roads I think I have a winner.
