Vin check? Please

Found a bike but it's not in the owners name. Bike has bill of sale and title is signed by owner and current owner. Bike was red and black and now is custom black and pink and current owners only had it for a few months. I looked through the forum and saw the process I need to get the title switched over but I don't know who to check VIN through right now. Can anyone help?

I can't check the vin, but " Bike has bill of sale and title is signed by owner and current owner. " is pretty much saying it all

If you have the physical title, with both sig's on it, then the new owner can easily just sign it over to you. Although, he was supposed to get it put in his name, so that might cause an issue or two, but nothing major.

Vin check? Please

I'm not sure how that's going to work with two people having signed the title, but you'll need to have a signed u-130 title application form, and if there is a lien listed on the title, you'll also need lien release paperwork from that bank.

It's such a pain in the buying from people who never title their right.

good luck. bank probably won't do it unless the registered owner is present. tax office won't transfer the title since it was already assigned to the person you're buying it from. they need to transfer the title into their name and then sell to you or you can contact one of those title service companies and see what they can do. truthfully, its alot of trouble when people don't title their stuff properly.

and to clarify, YOU CANNOT ASSIGN (SELL) a vehicle twice with the same title if it's been signed by both previous parties already.

You can take the bike to anywhere that does inspections & get the vin. Checked out and the form you'll need.

Unfortunately I've dealt with quite a few "wonky" title issues, and a bill of sale means nothing to the DMV. If the person who currently owns the bike has already signed the title, as has been stated previously, that person will have to get the title transferred into their name before they can legally transfer it to you. Sounds like they're trying to get around having to pay taxes on what they paid for the bike.

You might be able to get a bonded title if everything on the bike comes back clean, but it's kind of a PITA compared to a straight-up deal, and I doubt a financial institution would finance a vehicle with a bonded title.

If the current owner isn't willing to do the right thing, honestly I'd pass. Your only other hope of resolving this in a timely manner would be to get in contact with whoever is currently listed on the title, get them to file for a "lost" title, and just re-do all the paperwork to transfer it directly to you. Good luck with that though. I've yet to find a vehicle's previous owner who was interested in doing anything to help with it once it was out of their sight.

That VIN shows a lien from 2010. Best of luck.
