Motorcyclist dies in Cypress wreck

http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/cy...ck-5725189.php

Quote:
A motorcyclist died near Cypress when he crashed into the side of a turning car early Sunday morning.

Shortly before 2 a.m., Micah Jason Quarles was riding southeast on Grant Road on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when Nicholas Stumpf, driving an oncoming Toyota Echo, turned left onto Quail Forest Drive, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Quarles’ motorcycle slammed into the right side of the car. Quarles died of his injuries. Stumpf was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The case remains under investigation.

quick facebook search for Houston area guys with that name returns https://www.facebook.com/micah.quarles.7?fref=ts. From a pic on his page, he's on a sportster so it might be.

On a bike at 2am is too dangerous for me. I'd rather be on I-10 at peak rushhour.

, I really don't even like to ride after dark, period. This exact type of accident is my worst fear on a bike and it angers me the most as it's clearly unavoidable if people would just pay attention/slow down. That really is terrible for everyone involved. I just hope that alcohol wasn't in some way involved.

@2am I'd feel pretty good betting my money on dui - for either of the drivers.

Often the case I'd guess. Bars close at 2am and people are headed home or on to the afterhours bar. I wonder how much the chances go up from 1am to just after 2am.

Perusing that FB link in the pics section I see wife and kids. Young, happy family. Heartbreaking

What is it - something like 78% OF ALL MOTORCYCLE FATALITIES... happen after 2am. Like 40acres, I don't even bother with the bike at night. To many drunks.

RIP for the rider though.
