new rider! need bike! pls!

What's up guys. Names Alan, I work at Stubbs Cycles imports parts if anybody is familiar with Stubbs. I've been trying to get a bike since 2012 but something always seems to get in the way. I finally have the money now though!! So if anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction, I'm looking for a:
gsxr or cbr 600
no later than 2006
Somewhere around $3000

Thanks! (Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread!)

R6 is still worth it , TONS of parts available on the r6forum classifieds . For that price range youd be looking for a 2005 or 2006-2007 (a bit over the budget)

I have an 06 r6 50th year ann. I'd be willing to part with for 3500 bucks. You would have to wait till Sept 12 to check out the bike or anytime after 8pm on the 11th since I wont be flying back to the states till then...

When you say "no later than" 03 or 04, do you mean a bike newer than 2003-04 or older? No later than means a bike older than '03 or '04, no earlier than means a bike newer than '03 or '04. I think you have it backwards, because you can get near any 600cc bike "no later than" 2003-04 for $3K.

I wouldnt buy a bike based on the discounts you get at work. Parts can be found all over and who knows how long you will work there. R6 would be my last choice though. Just my personal opinion on the power and feel
