MH Poker Run for Harris County Sherrifs office and Motorcycle Awareness

Hey guys, just thinking of whether there would be any interest in a poke run benefitting the HCSO and Motorcycle Awareness. Would be nice to ingratiate ourselves to the hard working officers of our county by showing some support and maybe raising awareness of motorcycle rights in town

There have been a few page views but no reply to this post.

Are any, in fact, interested in joining a poker run scheduled maybe for early fall, as soon as the weather starts cooling off, one saturday or sunday morning/afternoon to take part in a poker run with proceeds going to HCSO ?

Well TBH we just need a route with 5 good stops. Pick a card at each stop and the rider with the best hand "wins"

Somewhere hopefully inside harris county but not strictly required.

Rider could win a small portions of donations/rider entry fee and the rest donated to the county sherriff office

Now that uve explained it, im interested.
How much would entry fee be, tho?

Each stop would be what? Bar, restaurant, ice cream, empty parking lot, gas station what?

Just a note:
Being that its the hcso..u could go around to various businesses and ask them to donate STUFF. Ie: 2 movie tickets, $25 gift card to their restaurant/retail, free night hotel stay...
Ive done it n it was rather easy. I just used a legit letterhead.

That's not a bad idea, maybe we could select several Scenic view type rest areas or Texas Wildlife oriented points ending at Washington on the brazos up near Navasota. Kinda out of the way of Harris County but I honestly couldn't see doing it inside suburban harris county.

I was just reviewing the outlaw poker run they did back in mid june for the boats out in Galveston and that's way more expensive, expansive and involved than I'd like a simple, fun run to be, maybe just a 15 rider entry fee plus a raffle

Im prob gonna go ride out there in a week or so and see whats up with locations I know theres some spots/parks in Brenham and other surrounding places.

it doesn't have to be for the police, that was just off the top of my head, however it would be co-productive because in addition to raising some money to donate to the Sherrif's office, we could hand it off with them knowing its from us motorcyclists and that we'd like them to raise their awareness and possibly an olive branch of good will towards our LEO's and also Motorcycle LEO's

Its a noble idea but I have so little faith in the police (rooted in govt mistrust) that I don't think I would ever support them.

Unlike HoustonHD and Shelnutt, many of us here are PRO Police(within reason).

^ Thank you, we really need to promote a mission of unity and non-conflict with LEO's as our safety on the road is somewhat analogous to the safety of the officers while interacting with communities.

Babygixx please give us your thoughts on any routes in your area, sugarland and other areas on the edge of the county that have direct access to pastoral routes are perfect for this idea.

Im still going to be riding out to brenham/navasota this upcoming week sometime to get a more formal idea of whats available up north. While they're im going to be scouting business/rest stops and other locations where we can put playing cards.

I wish i had the routes in mind because i would almost be willing to place cards down in advance in lieu of a second trip out there, just in case, to make it easier to get it ready should anything come about given that its not far but not close.
