So if I start putting 50-75$ back a week, do you think I could put a 1500$ down payment on a bike?

Yes, after 30 weeks at $50/wk you could have a $1500 down payment.

Ontop of the 1500$ I will also be using my tax refund as'well, so I will have close to like 2.4k total.

Depending on your bike insurance could get very expensive. A Vespa might be cheaper than a 600cc sports bike

I had a 08 CBR1k when I was 27. No tickets. Was quoted anywhere from $6-$8,000 a year for full coverage.Took me 6 or 7 quotes to find one that was reasonable. Don't get caught by surprise. This is especially true for Japanese sport bikes. A lot of people wad them up and they know this. Go ahead and get some quotes online to see what you are looking at. State Farm was the only one I found that would insure me for a reasonable rate.

You're better off buying a used bike in the $2-$3K range cash and get the most basic coverage you can...assuming you have a garage to house the thing.

Full coverage on an SS at 20 with speeding tickets will cost you more than the value of the bike in 8-12 months.

Risky, but ....all the $$ for insurance ain't worth it.

Also, if it's your first bike get something cheap. Plenty of folks in the classified over the years with 10-12K bikes that have 500 miles and they decided they don't like riding anymore.

10% interest from where!!! Stocks.. maybe but it can be riskaaaay.

As for insurance, I'm 21 no tickets or violations. Took MSF course and my full coverage insurance is $167/month with State Farm on a 2004 R6. It's expensive so don't underestimate it.

When you are getting insurance quotes look for car + motorcycle discounts. Check out Tuan in the sponsor section, lots of good reviews on him and I think his quotes are free. (I haven't dealt with him)

Personally, I wouldn't want to make a payment on both a car & bike.

Why won't anyone just answer his question?
Putting back 75 a week is plenty that's more than what your note should be. If you must save up save up to buy gear, then put the rest towards a bike.

The guy already said he doesn't want to buy outright pushing it down his throat making him feel stupid doesn't help the situation any. I pay 159 a month for seven years OP. But I pay 350 a month. Go as low as you can on payments and pay as much as you can each month. Some months you won't have the extra cash but you can afford the lower minimum.

Good luck

Well how much can you put away every week? Thats vague. How are we suppose to know your financial situation. How much do you want to spend on a bike? Save up $4500-$6500 and get a loan for $1k since you really want to make the excuse of "building credit". Buy a bike for $4500-6500 and store the extra $1k you have in a savings account in case something happens.

Now the amount you want to put on the side is truly up to you and how bad you want the bike, how soon you want to buy.

So if I start putting 50-75$ back a week, do you think I could put a 1500$ down payment on a bike?

No, realize a motorcycle isn't a necessity it is a LUXURY. You dont finance luxury toys, thats a immature decision. Decide, you want $6k in equity or $6k in debt

I'll finance a bike 100% same as cars. I don't care. Monthly notes don't matter to me. , boats and rv's too. I have 3 cars in my name right now. Notes on two of them. Over 1000.00 a month worth. Not everyone cares how some feel about the debt. IJS

Ha ha, thanks for the replies. I think I'm just going to finance one. I really don't care about monthly payments. As I make 2500-3k a month. But I also got car payment, insurance, phones, gas, but all that only totals to like 500 dollars a month.

But I'm also VERY bad at spending my money every week.
