I ride everyday from Wharton. A nice way to start my morning with 45 minute commute with no traffic. I'm down for a lunch as well. Someone say the word and i'm there.

Like three weeks ago. Something like 300 at this campus. Hopefully there won't be anymore in March, but some people think there will be.

I got the ax. A bunch of us did a month ago. It was a Thursday. That morning I had gone over a bunch of projects with my supervisor for the next few months. It had been cold and rainy weather for about 3 weeks. At about 2:00 pm the sun came out so I stepped outside just to feel it. Then my phone rang. it was just a guy that said, "Hi Dan, my name is Mike. Please, immediately go log off your computer and turn your badge into your supervisor. You've just been let go."

That's all he said. No 2 weeks, no telling me there was a strong possibility, no assistance offered, nothing. By time I got back to my supervisor, they had received an email and were waiting for me. I was escorted to my car and when I pulled out my right rear tire was flat. Not a good day.

I haven't heard a word since... not even from my friends there.

Sucks-

I'm still with them up in Wyoming. From what I've seen these layoffs are pretty deep and widespread. I travel a lot for work and everywhere I go that's all you hear about. People let go left and right. Entire districts shut down. Not a fun time to go to work.

My supervisor didn't know about it. That morning we had talked about projects at least 3 months in the future.

The email came just as I got back to my office.

So - i'll sell my ZX10 to anyone for $6500- but don't try to cut me down. KBB is at $7300+

This is a real steal, but it will give me a few house payments.

That's for sure. There was a guy that had absolutely ZERO experience in any professional work field, recent grad from MIT, but didn't know a thing. I had been training him but he just couldn't seem to catch on. He had no direct projects of his own - still there...

He was interested in bikes so we got to know each other.

But why I went and he stayed is just the way it is.

Such is life.....
