Girls who ride...

How tall are you?

What type of bike?

Lowered?

Seat shaved?

I want to try and get my wife a bike but she seems reluctant since she is only 5' and has short legs. I want her to take the MSF course to get her familiar with motorcycles then pick her up a little 250 to scoot around on for a couple of years then take it from there.

Suggestions?

I am about 5'5. I had to get my bike lowered because especially being a newbie, I was not comfortable on my tip toes. I got a 600, and wish i would have started off a little lighter.

If she's not a hardcore sport bike fan, get her nice little cruiser.
Than she doesn't have to worry about seat height.

I have a friend that is 5'2" and has lowered her SVS with aftermarket dog bones on the back. Instead of tip-toes she can get the of her feet down on both sides.

Once she gets more experience and raises her confidence level with low speed maneuvers, the bike's height won't matter as much.

She sat one a couple of cruisers and they seemed to be perfect for her but she wants a sportbike.

5'10" here...so yeah...I'm probably not much help. I ride a Ninja 636, not lowered, and my feet sit flat on the ground. :eh: Definitely have her take the MSF and a 250 should be PERFECT for her to start on. I do think it was a pretty good suggestion to maybe get her a cruiser though. That little Rebel cruiser is a lot of fun. When she takes the course...a lot of them have Ninja 250 as well as Rebels...have her try both and see which she likes better! :icon_bigg

I can sit on the bike @ stock ride height and my feet are flat on the ground, sat on an 07 600RR and was the same way. (which i shall be purchasing in the very near future)

We had to lower it like 3 or 4 in almost when i sold it to an ex-friend who was like...5'5"

Def. pays being tall

My gal is 5 4, started off on a Ninja 250, and she could put the of her feet flat. The Ninja has about the lowest and narrowest seat you will find.
She now has a Hyosung 650 which I had to lower about 2-3" to get her feet in the same spot.
The Hyo 250 is a lot sportier than the Ninja, and can be lowered more. A little better bottom end power as well.
The older CBR600's have a low seat height, all the newer ones are pretty darn tall.

I see you are from the NW side, if you guys want to try sitting on the lowered 650 and let her talk to the wife, drop me a line.

5' 10", 33" inseam - I have been able to get my feet (sometimes just toes) down on every bike I've sat on. The Enduro/DS/dirt bikes are the tallest, but they need to be for ground clearance.
