Vintage bike owner/new track rider

Just checking in. I'm into vintage japanese bikes mostly. Bought a track bike a couple of weeks ago ('99 srad gsxr600) and had my first track day yesterday. of a time and met some great people (one of them - sheevil - is a member here). Heard good things about the forum. I know everyone loves pics so here's a few shots of the current stable.

A few from the 70's ('76 KZ900/'78 GS750/'78 GS1000):

the 80's ('81 GS450S/'82 Katana resto-mod/'83 KZ1000R):

I got a kick out of your SRAD at grid. That tail looks huge, while also super aerodynamic.

awesome collection of bikes. My first true street bike was an '80 Suzuki GS 450L. and Now I'm riding the predecessor to your '83 KZ1000.
I'd love to see your collection up close sometime.

The guy you are talking about is the guy I bought it from (Andy). Probably on here but don"t know his username. Bought it from him a few weeks ago; he's moving up to a liter bike.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the collection.

Sweet bikes! I too suffer with the old bike disease, lol.
I've been out in the shop working on my latest, a 1974 Suzuki GT380. Also, have a 1982 Yammer XS650 I modded into a Street Tracker.

Since everybody loves pics...

Me too and I'm curious, is that a 750 or 1100 Katana?

Thanks. It's a first year '82 GS1000SZ. In '82 we got the 1000 motor so they could run in AMA superbike. The rest of the world got the 1100. The U.S. got the 1100 in '83.

Interesting, I never realized there were different motors.
I remember when those came out. I thought they were the wildest looking bike I'd ever seen and wanted one bad.
Then, as now, didn't have the money lol.
I worked with a guy that had one maybe 10 years ago, he said the suspension wasn't that great...
Until you got over 110mph lol
