Texas Tow Rig

We picked this up a couple of weeks ago. Seems to tow the boat a wee bit easier than the old Crown Vic did

It's the all-new 07 Tundra 5.7l SR5, Trd off-road package, tow package/mirrors, and lots of cupholders. Boys, sheesh

Here's another exterior, artsy-fartsy one:

So far, I have been very impressed with this truck. I liked the Sierra too. This is not the luxo edition. I really didn't want leather. It is the SR5. Cloth interior but nicely equipped.

It has the dual captains chairs (I like the console, you could store a VW Beetle in it), TRD offroad package (Bilstein shocks, bigger anti-roll bars, fog lamps, etc.), auto-dimming mirror w/ compass and Homelink, trip computer, tow package, big-a$$ heated tow mirrors, bed utility rail system, 6-disc cd/MP3 player with aux port for iPod. Lots of nice equipment without paying for parking sonar, leather and nav.

The power is amazing on this thing. The 5.7l V8 has 381hp and 401 ft-lb of torque. With the VVT-i (variable valve timing), you get 320 ft-lb of torque right off idle. It tows like a dream. The brakes are amazing. VSC (stability control), traction control, automatic LSD and ABS are standard. Front and side airbags with side air-curtains are standard which is nice.

The performance is nice for a truck too. 0-60 in 6.0 secs with 1/4 mile in the 14 sec range. I was especially suprised with the 60-100 acceleration. The 6-speed keeps it right in the sweet spot and it jumps up and hauls .

Sorry for sounding like a commercial but I am very happy with it. I looked at the Crewmax version but the beds aren't long enough to put a bike in.

If you can't find the one you want, I would search the San Antonio and Dallas markets. I got screwed over here in Houston. I got and drove to Plano for the truck I wanted.

We have gotten use to having NO payments for a while so it was tough to take the plunge but I am happy we did.

I haven't seen the crewmax yet. I think this truck is bigger and roomier than the F250 that I had. I took a step down to a new Tacoma DC this past Feb. Toyota made hella profit with their trucks this year.

I heard a rumor that toyota was developing a new diesel.
Anybody heard anything on this?
Ohh, and congrats on the new truck. I bought an 06 tundra back in November when they had all the factory incentives going. The new one is just more truck than I'll ever need.

I also heard rumors that Toyota is trying to come out with the diesel to compete with GM, Ford, and Dodge division. It probably won't happen until 08 or 09.

We bought our boat down by Clear Lake, but yes, we go to Conroe often. We have a campground membership with Thousand Trails so we use their facilities and boat ramp. The only thing that sucks is the lake gets rough in the afternoon Intra-coastal waterway has been nice and smooth though!!
