Yeah it would be nice to see some smaller cc sportbikes here for newer riders. Like the old Yamaha FZR 400. Not sure how well they would sell though.

Most performance issues are epa induced. New catalytic converters...intake noise resticters and quiet silencers make for poor performance off the show room floor. all of it is govt. mandated stuff.

im sure they would sell the out of them. just keep in mind the sales numbers of teh ninja quarters, the 500s, the katanas, etc. they sell just fine. a better bike with a tad bit less power would sell even more.

True but i doubt it will ever happen. Bikes arent bad on emissions anyhow. Thats why they let us ride HOV lanes.

emissions testing for bikes is supposed to happen around 2010. just fyi. but of course bikes older than that will be grandfathered in.

simple: money
You buy the extras to make the bike better. Comon guys think about, how much harder would it be for them to have a premium exhuast, damper, levers, etc. Why the should yamaha have GYT-R products? imo they should already be on the bike.

because theyre "meant" to be daily commuters, just like cars. would you want every squid on the road to have a 130hp 600cc w/ damper, suspension set up, full exhaust and pcIII? not me. not on my shift.

theyre sold to the average american public as a "commuter vehicle". just like a viper, camaro ss, trans am, etc. thats why theyre not sold with their full potential. use some common sense. are they "technically" meant for that? OF COURSE NOT. but you cant sell a full race bike/car/truck at a dealership to Joe Schmoe. in europe, maybe. here, no way. even Lambos sold here are tuned down.
