Man Leads Police on High Speed Chase on Rosemount Police Training Track

This is a track ive done up in Minnesota.

http://kstp.com/news/stories/s3507783.shtml

Quote:
A man is in custody after going for a joyride on a training track at Dakota County Technical College and refusing to stop Friday morning, according to school officials.
The incident happened at DCTC's Decision Driving Range around 9:45 a.m. Jim Unger, the track's safety coordinator, said he was working nearby when he heard a car driving on the course.
When he went to look, he saw a black Pontiac Grand Am on the driving range. The Grand Am was "probably going as fast as he could" on the 2.8-mile track's roadway, reaching speeds of up to 70 or 80 miles per hour on the straight stretches, Unger estimates.
Unger called the Dakota County Sheriff's Office. When authorities were unable to get the driver to stop, they called in other agencies.
The chase lasted about 10 minutes before a Rosemount police officer was able to execute a PIT maneuver to stop the driver, Unger said. It was later revealed that he was a former student.
The track is used to train police in tactical driving and emergency response. Unger, a former officer, has worked as an instructor at the track since 2001.
"I don't know why he would pick a police training track to have a car chase," Unger said. "But it was nice and confined. It's not often you have a safe police chase."
No one was reported injured during the chase.

Never rode that track up there. 2.8 miles? That has to be total track (including inside lanes) because I seem to recall it being more like 1.3 when they let the bikes run it.

So they noticed the car driving. They called the sheriff's office which arrived and failed to get the driver to stop. They then called backup to assist and finally stopped the driver. This all happened in 10 minutes??? Somehow that doesn't seem to add up. Normally it takes at least 5-10 minutes to get cops on the scene much less to try, fail and call backup to come stop the guy.

I think they meant it took ten minutes more after the backup arrived.

But that's no fun for the pigs. I rode sportbikes with a pig once, we even ran from the cops together one night lol. He would chase bikes to haul in his patrol car n slide around corners n cut thru fields. Wasn't even trying to the catch the bike lol

Well it all depends on the the type of person a cop is. But one thing is true, authority and power usually changes people.

You are correct, they are talking talking about the full track. Usually the track day configurations at DCTC are just over a mile long.
