FC on my ninja 650 is $340 a year. That includes uninsured/underinsured and $3K in gear replacement.

My thoughts are that my insurance is there to protect me, not the other person.

Full coverage here. Only $550 annually. I thought that was a decent deal considering I'm 23 and this is my first bike. As I develop my riding skills I will become less of a risk and if the price of insurance does not drop to reflect my decreased risk then I will drop the full coverage. My bike was cheap as anyway so it's not the end of the world if something happens to it.

I tend to go for the "Everything but collision" package. I'm 24 and unmarried, so collision tends to double or triple my premium on its own.

Also, my DRZ is only slightly more expensive to insure than a Tuono. Not sure how they came to that decision.

e: FZ6s and SV650s cost more to insure than a tuono or old SL1000.

True, but I'm not even looking at collision so if I toss it down a hill like I almost did that one time then I'm just SOL.

I found that at 34, married, and no crazy driving history to be in the same boat...I'll handle my own if I'm at fault...I worry about the other idiots driving with heads up their and no insurance. In a few years, when my current vehicles depreciate a little more...I'll do the same.

I pay $100 a year for liability only. Like Tojo92, I am older and have wasted a lot of money on full coverage without ever getting anything in return except for peace of mind. I don't finance toys, so it is a calculated risk. I have had 6 big tickets in 36 years of riding. Does not seem to affect my rates.
