At least it wasn't the transmission or clutch like you thought. I was on the hypermotard that stopped to check on you.

I was on the Buell.
I rounded the corner and thought you were a downed tree... then realized you were on a bike... then thought you laid it down or ran off. Just couldn't figure out why you'd bother to stand it back up only to have to hold it up.

Did you spend three hours sitting on the bike because the ground was too soft for the kickstand?

Haha no. I had a piece of wood to keep it from sinking. I laid down for a while, meditated a bit, sat on a bouncy log in the woods, inspected the native biology (I learned that palmettos are pretty cool), took a nap laying on the gas tank, etc. All the folks and police stopping to see if i was okay was very appreciated.

Btw, your Buell sounded pretty sweet.

It doesn't matter what brand the bike is, somebody didn't properly tighten the nut that holds the sprocket onto the splines, including the lock washer that should be bent over one of the nut flats to be sure the nut does not COME UNSCREWED and cause a 3 hour delay beside the road !!!

Every part that rusts and falls off a Triumph is of the highest British craftsmanship.
