It's the stories you hear like this that make you lose faith in the system.

See my posts a few weeks ago about exactly this. Cops will take care of their own when the opportunity presents itself even in the defiance of reason and logic. I live in a small town and I see and hear about it all the time. Here, stories have been completely suppressed from publication in the newpaper and kept out of the court system.

i ****ing hate how cops can get off so easily from everything they do. its ridiculous. i heard a story of a cop speeding windfern road i believe it was. small dark 2 lane road. this guy pulls out because he didnt see the cop coming and the cop plows right into his car. killing the driver. the cop just gets suspended.

Looks like the prosicution dropped the ball on this one. However I don't see how the Fk they can't find a direct relation to him being drunk that led to a fatal accident. Aren't they all directly connected?????

Un fk'n believable.

I can't believe how everyone blames bikers for fatal accidents... Is it just easier to blame the dead? Are they just jealous because our hobbie is much cooler than cleaning the jam from between their toes? I live with a Harris County Constable right now and your right, they do watch out for each other... That is why he drives coming home from the bars! On top of that, the guy was a cop, doing what he arrests people for, if cops are really criminals like the rest of us then why do they exist? Everyone is a criminal for brief moments of time, some longer than others. This was obviously the cop's fault, he should have looked twice and listened, I usually do when pulling onto a fast paced road that has blind corners close by just for this reason... I never want to be that position, ever! If it was an accident involving 2 cars the cop would be in jail but for a reduced sentence than we civilians would get and in a separate cushy cell from the rest of the inmates too just because they are a cop.

I understand everybody's frustration at this story and I too get annoyed but there was a time (years ago) when I use to drink and drive (according to me I was the best drunk driver around) and I KNOW most, if not all, of us on this board have jumped behind a wheel "over the limit" at some point in our lives - we were just lucky enough to not hurt ourselves or worse somebody else!

Before flaming on cops (I'm not one by the way!) think about it. If there was a fellow rider/brother in trouble, regardless of what put them there we would probably get their back! We too would manipulate the system IF the culprate was a good guy. This cop, as much as I hate to say it, may be just a good guy who wasn't as lucky as the rest of us who havn't hit a rider while being drunk?

If you take MSF it teaches you the steps involved for an accident to take place. Every accident has a sequence of events that must come together to create that accident. AND if you remove just 1 step you can avoid a horrible situation. The rider can't control the mail box, he can't control the curvature of the road, he can't control the drunk cop but he could've kept to a speed limit that would let him make the relevant moves to avoid the accident.

I hate to see any felow rider go down but we have to change our thought process to increase our survival. DONT just ride within your own limits - Ride within EVERYONE'S limits around you too!!!

PS I have never sat drunk behind a wheel since my DWI in 2001. When you read the signs "DWI You can't afford it!" THEY MEAN IT!!!

They were probably 'asked' to. The guy was three times over the legal limit. No excuse for him to be driving.

sadly enough the group who has the cops back is huge and powerful. no one like that to represent the innocent biker who was killed by a drunken idiot who should of taken a cab home.

Very true aswell!!! It takes a group like MADD to get a Judge to convict a cop
