I let mine expire for 4 years and then every 4 years is free. My motard is hard to keep street legal so I just gave up. Plate rattles loose and has to be zip tied in a weird spot, the plate lights get vibrated out, turn signals and horn are broken off from falling. I just gave up. I only ride it late at night and half the time is offroad.

For those thinking you can just get it inspected after a ticket you are wrong. They will reduce the ticket some but if you let it go for more than a month you will have to pay something.

FYI, it's 60 days guaranteed dismissal, still possible after 60 days though, if the court allows.:

§ 548.605. DISMISSAL OF CHARGE; ADMINISTRATIVE FEE. (a)
In this section, "working day" means any day other than a Saturday,
a Sunday, or a holiday on which county offices are closed.
(b) The court shall:
(1) dismiss a charge of driving with an expired
inspection certificate if:
(A) the defendant remedies the defect within 10
working days; and
(B) the inspection certificate has not been
expired for more than 60 days; and
(2) assess an administrative fee not to exceed $10
when the charge of driving with an expired inspection certificate
has been remedied.
(c) Notwithstanding Subsection (b)(1)(B), the court may
dismiss a charge of driving with an expired inspection certificate
that has been expired for more than 60 days.

Expired/No inspection is hardly dirty. Especially considering tickets are dismissed if obtained prior to appearance date.
fyi, turn signals only required if they're installed on the bike. If they are not present at inspection then they're not required.

I get it though and will be nice overall.
Shouldn't "racecars" be driven on a "racetrack"?

Nope. Mine goes on the street as well.

I did not see anywhere that this new inspection sticker deal mention motorcycles. Did I miss it? I bet they will jack this up and still require motorcycles to have both.

One would think it is for both. Must have registration done prior to registering....try to register without a passed inspection and they don't issue registration sticker. Not sure why it took Texas so long to follow suit. Several states work this way....Most put the tag on the rear plate too so a popo can easily spot offenders. Not sure why Texas thought that the front lower windshield was a good place. before everyone jumps on me for "Big Brother is not a good thing". Go join Ivan on his bicycle, driving is a privilege.

People used to cut their plate mounted stickers with razor blades to stop people from stealing stickers off their plates

Some would take the whole plate, put it on the stove and heat it till the reflective paint would blister under the sticker then scrap it off..... so I read.
