Question What to do with an old '98 Katana

My brother has an old '98 Katana. It needs some love, ballpark $500 to get it road worthy again.

I tried to find examples on the web of people using this as a project bike, turning it into a cool street fighter or naked bike, but could find nothing. Is this the lamest bike ever, or is there some hidden potential I'm not seeing?

I'm trying to decide if we should turn this into a project, or try to find a buyer.

To me Katanas are not that bad. I almost had one for my first bike. Do the best you can to fix it up. First off though, get rid of that seat! Now that's fugly lol!

If you're picking it up for free and then fixing it for $500. You have another $1000 or so before you are up to the buying price of most running bikes. I don't know anything about katana's but this might be an opportunity to get a project bike for a little less than buying a different bike.

Those were the cool pre-GSXR Katanas though. The later ones were boring looking at best.

It's pretty hideous, huh? It's not stock, but that's how it was when he bought it used a few years ago.

I have a 2005 from my cousin, I've been parting it out...slowly but surely.
