No thanks... electric bikes may out perform piston motors, but will never be the same.
That's like have a sexy blow up doll - sure, it gets the job done - but it's just not the same as a real woman.

I highly doubt that - I have paid $8 with no issue overseas - just part of life.

If it hauls , turns and is reliable, I don't care it's powered by a hamster in a wheel

In that sense, I understand and agree. I'm not saying it isn't a good looking bike, I think it is and I would ride it.
But, even with all that potential performance, for me, it will still be lacking something. I'll stick to my piston motor most likely. Bear in mind, I still drive my 71 Cheyenne as my regular cage by choice.

I like it, but it probably still leaks oil.

If the price of gasoline goes up, the cost of electricity goes up. Am I the only one who realizes that energy has to come from somewhere, and you ARE going to pay for it? Shocking.

To be successful I think it better offer more than just the novelty of electric power.

Mentioned this to the harley riders at work and got the expected reaction. "WTF?" "Un American!" "Buell all over again". I told em it might be the first harley i ever buy. em off good. These guys are reasonable level headed rational engineer types. Obviously poisoned by generations of hype. Whatever. I hope it does well.

So, an electric bike costs twice as much as a comparable gas bike. A harley costs twice as much as a comparable cruiser.
So, is this bike Comparable bike price x 2 x 2; or Comparable bike price X2^2?

Seriously, I love the look. performance sounds great... but sounds like they put a small battery in it. That would save weight making it better on paper, better speed, better feeling.... and not effecting test rides.

Also...

(you really don't need to figure the math out )

CBS Morning just did a story on the bike. Talked to Harley riders that test rode it. Said they ride Harley for the sound. One bald-headed douche giggled like a little when he said how he enjoyed setting off car alarms in parking garages on his HD.

This bike won't attract Harley riders, but it could attract a whole new market segment to HD

The riders they talked to on CBS were "young"

Of course I passed judgement, doesn't matter that it's out or not. It's nothing I am interested in buying/riding. To each their own - it is a good looking bike.
Super performance or not - it will always be lacking that little something for me.
