So the movers came today...

The moving company came and packed out my house today so it can start it's 2-month journey to Houston. They came ahead of time to "scout" what I had to ship so that they could be prepared. Needless to say they did not come prepared, too small truck, not enough crates, and NO CRATE FOR MY MOTORCYCLE.

Bikes usually have they're own dedicated crate to make sure your pride and joy arrived undamaged, in one piece, and right-side-up.

Not these guys. They threw my bike in the back of the truck and started stacking boxes, toys, tools, etc on and around my bike. No tie downs, not sitting on the kick stand, no wheel chock, just chillin in the back of the truck braced with cardboard boxes and a Christmas tree. It's ok though, they're only driving 4 hours to they're warehouse where I'm sure they'll do a bang-up job of putting it in a crate there.

I can already see the damage claim now... /rant.

Not worth it to send them back to get the appropriate equipment for the job?

Really nothing I can do. They are paid by the Air Force not by me and they came from 4 hours away.

Will you have any recourse through the Air Force should your property arrive damaged? I was under the impression that the armed forces handled their own shipping in-house for enlisted.

not much you can do for a military move. just fill out insurance forms when you get things damaged then wait, wait, wait and wait some more to get your money for broken items. been there done that form Colorado to Dallas.

All I can do is file a claim with the company and hope to get some kind of compensation out of it.

The military has no way of moving personal property, it's all contracted out to moving companies.

Well that really sucks.

I hope it survives in relatively good condition.

I'd rent a trailer for bike before I let it go like that.

I'm separating from the Air Force and moving from Italy to Houston. Not really feasible.

They were supposed to bring a crate for it just like they do every other time, why it didn't happen this time is still a mystery to me.

On the bright side my little brother just agreed to sell me his R1 just gotta figure out how to get it from Kansas City to Houston, maybe in a crate...

Ask someone nicely that has a trailer or truck. Then pay for gas and caffiene to get there and back.
