@Donte I'm looking for someone to practice going up and down Spring Stuebner with. A couple of months ago, Harris county re-made it into a boulevard (just like Cypresswood Dr). So, I think that is perfect to practice on U-Turns on.

@KillinTime & @KhmerStyle Thank you! Eric from Global Motorsports said this was a great site, with lots of friendly people. He was right!

@poranksta Oh Yeah! I found out quick that I should use a feather instead of actually touching the throttle.

@TomballD I meet Ed and Eric. And, saw them in the gym the second day I had my bike.

@Yayo & @xsv Yup! I've already laid her twice while learning to breaking and countersteering. I learned from one Youtube video, you have to ACCELERATE to maintain control of the motorcycle. It's not like a bicycle. LOL!

Welcome, i am in spring as well.

Sorry to hear shes already been down.

Def recommend you do a noob ride. And a track day with a school. You will learn an incredible amount at a track as to how to handle the bike, not necessarily haul .

Looking for someone to show me the Ropes

I'm looking for anyone to come over and give me a lesson. I'm willing to feed you delicious food. I'm a pretty good cook! My whole family is!

How they did the stitching makes my itch, so i have to wear a long sleeves and pants. Definitely recommend perrini over Bilt any day.

Do you have boots yet?
I finally made it out onto the street after practicing in the safety of my farm for three weeks. I got the suit I posted about! At first, it was difficult to in/out of but I has gotten easier. I'm practicing getting in/out of it twice per day before and after I do practice laps for 30 minutes in both AM and PM. I think it is worth it because I feel safe inside it. I really want to get rid of those chicken strips on my tires! LOL!

I got the suit. Thank you for the offer! The suit is REALLY hot so I might change my mind. It's mesh, right?

I saw it and, at first, couldn't get it to work.
I finally figured it out though.

Check out sportsbiketrackgear.com for suits and safety stuff. They also have tons of reviews and videos about the products. Welcome to the big show and enjoy the ride at your own pace. I wouldn't be to keen on using a main road for practice I found walmart parking lots to be good back in the day. Of course the first thing i did was buy a trashed out older 600 real cheap and practice riding in the grass. If you can accelerate, brake, and turn in the grass then I moved to the street. Good luck!

Recommended Books

It is a long time until July, so in the mean time, please buy these two books and read, study, and practice what is taught in them.

Street Strategies - A Survival Guide for Motorcyclists - by David L. Hough

Ride Hard Ride Smart - Ultimate Street Strategies for Advanced Motorcyclists - by Pat Hahn

Sounds like you are practicing the bike handling skills, and that is extremely important. But the interaction with traffic, cars, roads, other motorcyclists, needs tons of attention as well.

And when you ride with others, do not try to keep up with their pace. Ride only at a pace whereby you are comfortable and confident. Your pace will gradually increase, but don't try to hurry it. Best of luck.

Welcome bro!

Do not skimp on gear!!!! Get yourself a helmet that fits properly, for now you can get a way with a jacket and some armored jeans. BUY AND WEAR KNEE PADS!!! And a set of SMX 3 or 6 boots and your should be good for street riding. If you plan on going to the track( DO GO at least ONCE) you can rent leathers until you decide you like it enough to buy a set.

Riding a motorcycle is not something I would suggest trying to learn via video. Take the MSF class sooner rather than later and or get a private coach to help you. A lot of bad habits can form early on that are a pain the break. The $150 could have saved your bike from being dumped and could still save your life.

Again welcome and stay shiny side up...

Hey guys, I had to sell my motorcycle to free up some funds. I will buy another in 2015. What 600cc motorcycle do you recommend? I've determined that what is most important to me is comfort and, secondly, handling and maneuverability.

Well, that didn't take long... I loved the ergo's of the 2013 Ninja 650 the most. Felt the most comfortable to me. Do what I did and go sit on a few of them (giggity) and see which one feels the best.

I would say a Ninja 650! Easy to ride, not too powerful, very comfortable, and overall a great bike!
