Thoughts on IPOD'S while riding

What are everyone's opinions on listening to their IPOD's while riding. How many of you do it? They now have earphone that block out 95% of outside noise. Seems that you would want to hear some noise around you but i do know alot of ppl prefer not to. I am looking for new earbuds as we speak.

Need to be able to hear some in case of sirens, so they dont think you are evading ... I personally don't like it because I like to know if someone is honking at me or screeching tires behind me cause they didn't see me :eh: had that happen a few times.

REPOST AFTER REPOST on this subject. I listen and actually ride better with it. I bought some nice earbugs from Best Buy for $11.99, I think the name brand was GUM or something, sound great, and feel comfortable!!!! Scratch all that noise cancelling $h!t. U'll be paying $40 for nothing!

I like to listen to music on the street, you can still hear everything else if you dont have them turned up all the way.

i think its a terrible idea. When riding on the streets i think you should give complete attention to your surroundings & driving.

all that $11.99!!! They are cheap but they are a good buy, beside u don't need state of the art, ur just using ur ipod to "listen" to the music not "hear" it ("White Men Can't Jump" quote!!!!)

I ride with just the left earbud in also, you can hear the music, but you can hear outside noise and it doesnt distract me like when both are in. If you do ride with ipod, invest in an ipod radio remote, makes it so much more enjoyable.

I listen to mine whenever I ride, which is everyday. I can hear all the cars, horns, and what nots of my riding environment. My father is currently working on a ipod holder of sorts so that I don't have to have it in my pocket. It mounts on the gas tank much like a camera mount. The first prototype worked really well but scuffed the ipod up. Next round will be much more improved. BTW my father has filed the patent work on this little project, so once there is a finished product we plan to market it. If anyone is interested please let me know.

the idea is to have it mounted to that you can read it clearly. And to have a clean look.
