decent dirt bike

budget is around $1,800 or less(preferably less, as $1,800 is all I have atm).....don't really care if its street legal or not. If it is, that's a plus....mostly will be using it for messing around and trying to stay out of trouble, lol.

5'11 - 185lbs......I know dirt/street are different but my experience level is Advanced level when doing Track D's @ TWS (Texas World Speedway)/MSRH. Don't have much MX experience.

suggestions? what should I be looking for on craigslist or MH for sale threads?

nvm, close thread. I think i'm just going to go with a stunt 50 to mess around the neighborhood with for now and save up for a nicer bike. $1,800 doesn't get much of what I want. 250cc+

You can get a nice two stroke for $1800. If you want a four stroke save up some more money and try to get one with low hours. Four stroke rebuild is stupid expensive.

Hey TrevorC, also depends on where you will be riding it the most. If you're just playing around the neighborhood, that little 50 would be a good bet, not too load and most people just think of it as a toy and won't be hassling you. If you want to ride the forest, lots more choices for there, I've ridden anything from a 125 2-stroke to the 450 mx bikes out there, and then if you want to MX, start with a smaller 125 or 250f till you're use to it and ragging it out, then move up to a bigger bore mx bike. Dual sport, yep, just a ton of fun and trouble waiting to happen, good luck on your hunt. If you decide to ride the forest trails, give me a shout, I ride there year round.

I ended up picking up a crf50, big bore kit 88cc with bbr kit, pegs, handbrake, and it has a new shock / forks to raise it up with a big seat.

attempting to learn how to wheelie on it atm
