The other brother who was seriously injured has lost his foot & about 3 inches of his lower leg.
He ALSO had on gear & a full face helmet.

Another lost a finger.

There was construction debris in the road and it caused a chain reaction thru the pack of guys. They were not speeding, were not being careless, and were all highly seasoned riders. They were in Houston for a funeral of another brother who passed a couple of weeks ago.
Thank you for the update. There is always a lot of information/misinformation floating around after an accident. It's a sad time whenever another rider goes down, especially down for good. Again, my condolences to you and all those who knew him.

RIP. Group travel on bikes can be very dangerous, especially when proper following distances aren't maintained. (I'm not saying this was the case here). I've seen 2 separate accidents with larger groups involved where many riders went down at once. Sad stuff.

Thank you guys!
And yes, the domino effect in tight groups is a bad deal. Traveling that way doesn't leave any room for reaction time.

Being from out of town, the construction in that area just seems horrific! We flew down and even driving the rental car, I was not really comfortable with the way that construction is laid out & handled. Just seems like a mess!

The city was sure quick to clean up after the wreck tho... we went by less than 12 hours later, and by sun-up, they'd already repaired the guardrail/barrier, painted & everything. I'm hoping there were lots of pictures taken at the scene that show the things that were there & how the damage was done, since we couldn't get any after the city wiped away all the evidence that it was their debris that caused the wreck.

You need to step away from the internet, the link you posted goes to some pictures that don't need to be in this thread.

EDIT: I flagged a moderator to help clean up your stuff.

You can go to transtar and look up archives and pull pictures from there if you are looking for pics before the accident.

I was absolutely not intending to be nasty or give orders, I apologize.
If you had dealt with the utter bullshit that we have over the last 48 hours since the wreck occurred, you'd understand where I am coming from.

The news stations down there were reporting EVERYTHING wrong from the details of how it happened to the injuries, etc etc. There's nothing more frustrating than being 250 miles away from home, with 18 of us being piled into an ICU room around the bed of our leader who's lost his leg, mourning my brother who passed away, one of us being covered head to toe in his blood from trying to save him at the scene, and seeing all of these bullshit news articles and people's really insensitive comments being posted and us not being able to do ANYTHING.

So again, I really am sorry if I came across totally bitchy.

At first I was like, WTF dude?!? And once I read thru all of your posts, now I'm laughing. Maybe I'm just delirious from lack of sleep and the emotional trauma of the last few days.

Oh but it's TOTALLY time to clean out that clip tray for reals
Don't sweat it tho!!

I'm really nervous to go look at these... I don't want to see photos OF the wreck itself. Is it video? Or still-shot type photos???

No no, no videos it's all stills. But I do think they pull photos if it's apart of an investigation, which science there was a death involved I'm sure there is.

Yea, last I heard they don't even have the plans for 290 finalized yet. How do you start building something without finished plans!?
