I drove by and saw the rider laying on 290, but didn't see the bike. Once I past by, I saw people on the HOV looking down, that's when I figured he went over. Rider was geared up, but that's like a 30-40 ft drop.

Prayers to the rider, hope he makes it out ok.

Without trauma training, stopping to help wouldn't have accomplished anything. At that time of day, I guarantee there were no less than a dozen calls lighting up the 911 call center. Some were, "A guy just wrecked his motorcycle and is hurt bad. Send an ambulance." The rest were, "There was a wreck and traffic is up. I'm late getting home." The "brotherhood of riding" aside, futility is part of reality. I guess he could have taken a few pics, though.

I'm glad I'm trained as a first responder and not a Facebook poster.

As a first responder, your training supersedes a majority of the population's. If you didn't stop to assist, you'd have no honor. People with no training get a pass. They just get in the way.

If you do not stop to assist when you are medically trained and qualified then "No honor" will be the least of your problems......
BTW, just landed in Los Angeles from Hawaii with a medical emergency that turn into much worse.....

Not in Texas. You have to have medical training, be employed with an EMS service and be on the clock at that service. It's called duty to act.

I have no medical training other than some CPR lessons long time ago. One morning riding to work on W. Little York, A rider went down just ahead of me - hit (or hit by) a garbage truck. I did stop to check up on him. Couldn't do much but talk to him a bit. Saw him tried to get something out of his jacket... figured out it was his phone. I help him get it out. He wanted to call his family. Young kid. I stayed by him probably 15min before the ambulance arrived and took over the scene.

I figured, if for nothing else, the sight of another rider there might possible offer a sliver of comfort, when there was none possibly to be had.

I don't know what I could have done that the other 15-20 standing around couldn't do. I'm not trained as a first responder, I would've stopped if i could've helped. There were 10 people on their phones, with 5 people crowded around him. I would've just been another person standing around blocking traffic on 290.

A few months ago I saw a dude run a red light and side swiped a truck right in front of me. I got off to see if he was ok, called 911 and stayed there until the medics arrived.
