hey Superhawk, I ride a KTM 350 sxf and today Marks riding a Husaberg 350. CraiggRR came out a few weeks ago from MH on his Yamaha 125L and rode very well. We have all size bikes come out and we usually ride whatever pace everyone wants to ride. Sometimes we get separated but always wait at the turn offs so no one gets lost out there.
PS: don't think about coming out this time of year without having a camelback or some way to carry enough water for a few hours ride.

I would have liked to come out but had to work. I would like to try for Friday if your going again. What are the trail conditions like?

Trails were in good shape today, sand was packed and there was very little dust. The Woodpecker trail on the west side you need to stay clear of, it was in horrible shape with lots of overgrown limbs and down trees on it, but rest was good on the west side. Probably work trails Saturday on the east side and ride after that if there's enough time and energy left. We're getting the east side trails back in ridable shape again slowly, probably done with over half of them already. TRH is suppose to be cleaning trails on the 14th on the west side so hopefully in a month or so all the trails will be ridable without too many obstacles.

If any MH guys are riding the SHNF, hope they will post it here and let me join in if possible. Always better to ride with someone out there rather than alone.

I'm shopping for another YZ250F after a ~4 year hiatus. I like riding during the week, and would be interested in meeting up. Good to hear the trails are getting some love-thank you. The trails were still FUBAR from Ike last time I was out there. I have a chain saw, and may be able to help after I find a bike. I used to check a local off road forum for rides, but can't remember exactly which one...

phm14, I ride about every Thursday in the SHNF, other weekdays too, but not as often. If you want to watch when I ride, I'm an organizer on "Old Dudes on Dirt Bikes" meetup and usually post rides there and here on MotoHouston. I'm old but still ride and I do know about every inch of trails in the SHNF so I never get too lost unless I'm trying to. I usually try to keep the pace at whatever depending on whom I'm riding with, unless you're just too fast and I will let you lead to the next turn off and catch up then or vice verse if the shoe fits.

I'll definitely get in touch when I find a bike. I'm no spring chicken at 51 myself, but still love to ride. Always good to have a buddy.

thanks phm14, went from a 450 4-stroke to a 125 2-stroke and now to the 350f, seems to fit me well and really like the power delivery on the KTM.

That 350 with the starter is tempting...

Went out today Saturday, 6/7/14, and 4 of us went down. Rode the Balloon Loop and way too many whoops, face slappers and downed trees to cross. Definately a workout in the heat. Who needs a gym when this gives you fun and a 3 hour full body workout. Will post a video up when it's ready guys.

Looked into the KTMs a bit. So far, the 350 XCF-W is top of my list. Problem: finding one used or under list.
