Street legal help.

Ok I got my buddy's arctic cat. Got insurance on it. Inspected it. Vi-30 form. Took it to the courthouse and they didn't know how to get me my plates. Where do y'all take the paperwork to get your off-road toys street legal?

Should be as easy as switching your dirt title to street when registering. Is this a quad or side by side?

Are you sure that is even possible? I have plated 4 or 5 dirt bikes and it is fairly easy. There are a lot more rules involved when you have 4 wheels. I have not heard of anybody making one of these street legal yet.

I was unaware you could plate a quad or SxS. As long as you have proof of inspection swapping and off road title should be straight forward. I've registered an OR bike and it's done at the same counter you swap your title at.

Right, does it have emissions devices? Crash worthyness?

Assuming it's a relatively new veh. And going to be registered as a newer veh.

If he got a state on-road inspection, shouldn't it have addressed those issues?

I don't know that I've heard of a SxS or quad being registered in TX, but I know some states do it. Seems like NY does, if all the plated quads in the Range Rover attack video are any indication.

They build dune buggies all the time and make them street legal, you passed the state inspections, got the green sheet from the inspection station, should be good to go and change your title over to street legal and get tags???? Did you the clerk off?

As far as quads I always thought they couldn't be registered because of the saddle style seat on a 4 wheeled vehicle. I would think the SxS would need emissions testing since its classified like a car

What streets are you limited to? How much additional equipment was needed to be installed? Turn signals, reverse lights, license plate light etc?

I am an inspector so I just did the paperwork. they classified it as a motorcycle. I just did the windshield sticker instead of the motorcycle sticker. all it was is safety only.
