Those Euro emission regulations pay a big part in that for sure. Nothing an aftermartket exhaust will not cure. This seems to be the trend will all open class bikes these days. Guess we have to sacrifice some wieght up front (mandated by emission regs) to get the power and handling that these offer.

I'm really not brand loyal. I do like to stir the pot, however you can't argue with how strong the Suzuki's are! They have had the best motors since the 1K was introduced. And thier power is in the bottom and mid ranges, where you need it most!

When I got my pup I put some serious thought into naming him Gixxer too.

But I went with Johnny Cash instead.

There is no doubt that Suzuki makes very good bikes, but I disagree with the statement that they have had the best motors since the GSXR 1K was introduced. For a few years the ZX-10R had the best motor. When you run them on the street, the ZX-10R, GSXR-1K, and R1 are very close with rider skill determining the winner.
