This is what nancy told me a while back. seems like they are willing to work with us

Hey Chris!

I know the owners of The Dogwood - Midtown, 2403 Bagby, next to Little Woodrows and they would love to host a Central Bike Meet for MotoHouston.com. I meet them a few weeks ago when I was helping plan the Dynamo Charities Bald Is Beautiful Shave event for a local cancer charity. Jeremy Austin, Chad Womack and Brad Womack are all co-owners. Brad was a "Bachelor" in 2011 after appearing on the "Bachelorette" in 2010. I introduced them all to Peter at the Dynamo game last night. Anyway, the place is perfect for a big meet and they will offer drink specials, they have great food and will let us take over the place on a Wed night. The parking lot they share next door with Little Woodrows, can be reserved for all the motorcycles. Ivan told me to talk to you, since you are the go to person regarding MH meets. Let me know what you think. The bar website is at: http://www.thedogwoodmidtown.com/ .

Nancy

I'm up for a change, we need a different spot. Especially one with good service and food to snack on.

Different spot, on Wednesday at 8pm

I usually eat before I go.

I wonder if anyone has considered SHEPARD PARK DRAUGHT HOUSE.

They host a weekly bike meet and are good at it. Ive seen it packed with 100 bikes before too.

BEER SERVICE is SLOW AS ...that is why I'm friends with TMAX.

Last 2 times I've rolled into OD's, a waitress or bartender is about all the bikes in the lot and leaving as her "shift is done"....why wouldn't Dave ask his daytime waitress to stay a few more hours? It certainly has to be worth it....on the flip side, half the people probably buy nothing, order water, and then when it doesn't come fast enough. I have learned one thing in my day....cash only at bars when it is expected to have a big crowd.

I miss the Tavern on W Gray...wish that place was still around.

There's a meet every Thursday at Shepherd Park. Quite a few of the MH guys show up, but it's not exclusively MH. [/shamelessplug]

I don't know how well that would work, as even with proper planning a crowd that large is rough on SPDH. I don't know if you were there the week that all the Harleys rolled in, but the owner said if it got that big again they would just shut down. Granted, part of it was the crowd, but they don't have the parking lot to support the slow races either, unless those were taken across the street. We can talk to them and see what they say, but I wouldn't expect them to be ok with it by next week.

I think Jamie's trying to push me that way, eventually. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up getting pushed into the running for some kind of officer position, based on our conversations so far. Guess I should consider getting a British bike sometime so I can fit in.

No Doubt, Outlaw Dave's is a great venue. Plenty of Parking and still enough room for the Stunters.

Ivan should be utilizing this space to bring back to the fold the guys who started MOTOHOUSTON the Stunters. Everyone enjoys watching people do things with their bike they wish they could do.

There is so much room there it doesn't ever feel cramped. You can hang in the Parking Lot, the outdoor area, or even inside. Not many venues will allow you to drink in a parking lot. Although, i'm against drinking and riding.

I know some of you know a Band that we could all pitch in on the cheap and have them play out in OD's backyard.

I'm up for a rotation only becuase sometimes its the same ol' same ol'

True, Dave has been slow to fix service issues. But to try to save things he put on a crawfish boil. I think with continual nudging he will make things right. And for a spot with zero non-bike traffic, no complaining neighbors, and free run of the place we should not turn our backs on this place.

I have ADD, and I get bored easily. So I personally want to see the meet rotate from spot to spot, but we should definitely reward those who are good to us with regular, very regular, revisits. I proposed something similar a couple of months ago, with Outlaw Dave at the table, oops.

They have a lot adjacent that has plenty of room the owners told me they secured.

Also, my friends who own no label brewery in Katy have been asking us to have a meet out there, but I can't see that as anything close to central, lol. but it would be a great place for an MH BBQ.

So, here was my idea for mixing up the central meet....make it a progressive party with 2 locations. One for dinner, the second for giveaways, slow races, and beer. Have them be close to each other so it's more of a mass bike parade than a ride, and people can transition from first to second location when they are ready. Outlaw Dave's to Winston's on Washington would be perfect. Or, Refinery to Dogtown.

Ivan should be good at organizing this, he's a critical-masshole, ride-eat-party, crucial-master-planner type of hipster wannabe. And since he has to ride his bicycle, it will be an under 30 MPH ride.
