Winston's is physically about the same size as Shepherd Park, and the Euro night has over-run SPDH more than once (in terms of what they could handle serving), and that doesn't include when the HD gangs decided to drop in. I've only been to one central meet (this last one) but even Dave's seemed packed.

WTF, vegans? Something tells me that there aren't many vegans coming to a MH meet at a bar and expecting a veggie option.

They have about:
5 picnic tables = 8 ppl can sit elbow to elbow
5 small round tables = 4 ppl can sit
Inside the covered bar area has maybe 7 chairs at the bar = 7 ppl can sit
5 tables surrounding it with 2-4 chairs each (most are high tops with 2 chairs) = 14 ppl can sit
= 33
33
33
33
BUt then again, ppl can stand around and eat wings, not sure about burgers though.

Outlaw Daves has a kitchen and staff that was able to serve the amount it was able to seat.
I think thats a great indicator of how an establishment would be able to handle its patrons.
With Winston's being even smaller, I doubt itll be able to handle the masses but you did mention you brought 150 bicyclists and they held up.

Capitol Bar is pretty huge (with their back patio thats away from the parking lot). They have 1 huge rectangular bar inside with about 4 bartenders and a smaller one outside with 2 bartenders. Bad part is parking. WHile its an OK size, it wont fit 60+ bikes, parking lot is L Shaped. Being off Main isnt too terrible bc theyre at a big intersection (McGowen) and at the corner of Bremond. It does get a little tight with vehicles around. Dont think its a happening spot on a Wed though so its a plus. Thurs, moreso.

As much as I like variety and diff venues, I think a set spot for Central Meet is best.
Surrounding areas can have their rotating meets every wednesday..(like I have always done, never had a Public Meet at the same place twice)
The cyclists did not eat from winston's but did order a of a lot of drinks and very little wait.

We had the Maya Quiche Taco Truck there and that worked well. We can do that again.

Have you walked around and paid attention at the Central Meet? Not that many people sit around and just stay at tables, there are very few that do. The rest are by the bikes or outside walking around mingling.

Do any of you guys AT ALL remember how LITTLE the space for parking was at Refinery? Yet that worked and we even had space for the slow races.

Yes, I do. It is now called PP1 and it's down the road at starbucks. You can have that any wednesday of the month.

This is not JCI or PP1 it's the Houston Central Meet.

You have to understand the difference. Also, I have notice a slight decline in attendance. Sure it seems like a lot, but not from my memories of the Sawyer heights Freebirds days, or the first Refinery meet or even the very first ODs meet.

If there was an ounce of chance for a huge failure I would not consider this. I was a big skeptic when Blanco first told me about it or even when Tiffany asked me about it.

I'm sure if I mention to her everyone's concerns and that there is no room to get it wrong, she will be up for the challenge.

Plus they have better music lol

It's been awhile since I've attended a Central Meet. With that being said, I've been to Winston's before and the service was below par.

If things are not better, then by all means switch places..

My opinion is based on all of the years hosting the WSBK/MotoGP race viewing parties, every hopping place in town wanted to have our group, but after 1 or 2 , everything slid and once football season started they did not want to give us the big screens for Motorcycle Racing, Firkin and Phoenix was the only place that saw the season through with us and that is why I stayed there!
Vu told people that he made a commitment to us and he would honor it, and that my friends is how you run a business!
This guy has it

Ivan,

If you're going to switch it, then switch it. Why make a thread asking if it should be moved and then argue with EVERYONE'S response you don't like?

The majority want it @ Outlaw Daves. The owner of the forum too. So what is the issue? You made the thread, got your answer, now stfu about it. But, as I mentioned above, it's not the answer IVAN wants to hear... So he is going to argue some more.

I love it when someone that has ZERO interest in the meet and has done ZERO to help the meet chimes in.

And as much as you wish there was another incentive other than the success of the meet, there isn't (though mantoe just gave me an idea). It's not like when you were whoring yourself to anyone on the forum as the "BEST SHOP IN TOWN" or "THE ONLY AND BEST TRACK ORG AROUND" just cuz they threw some free at you

Your opinion is that last one I will listen to. You have hated the Central Meet since the bigining...

If the problem is service, simply tell Dave that he needs to bring in extra help at the bar and in the kitchen on central meet nights.
He's making fat stacks on that night and should be able to afford a couple extra staff for one evening.

He's a businessman who very likely does not want to lose business.

and as far as me asking the question...the title was more of a way to grab attention since thew answer is in the first sentence of the post.

then I go on to explain how that decisions came about.

there are some people chiming in that are there all the time. but there are others that don't even attend that are chiming in.

Guarantee the majority would be fine with going anywhere. I also talk to a lot of people during the meet and the complaint has always been the slow service.

So ignore the few people that want to stay or ignore the bigger number of people that tell me things during the meet?

How do you balance that?
