2005 r1 won't start after nice slide.

i dropped my by in a terrible accident last week. there is only cosmetic damage on one side and that is it. the electronics flip on perfect and the bike is perfectly functional but the engine wont turn over. some riders told me there is a safety switch that has to be flipped after a good wreck to help prevent explosions. i was wondering if anybody new more that could help me start her up. thanx

Find out where the tilt switch, reset it, and you're good to go.

Try finding a fiche diagram for your bike somewhere online.

first check all fuses. then see if theres power going to the starter solinoid. if yes then short across and see if the bike will turn over. if yes does it start?
if it doesnt start but turns over when you jump across the solinoid check and make sure nnone of the wires from the ignition switch and your right handle bar switch are pinched to the point of being split. oh yea make sure the clutch switch is plugged in (on the left handle bar on the bottom of the clutch perch) they sometimes come off. and try starting it with the sidestand up if its not one of those then id have to look at to tell you whats wrong with it

i hit the starter and the solinoid fires but bike doesnt start. so i guesss i need to chase wires. but remember there is nooo structural damage to the bike, not even the handle-bar is bent.

try unplugging the battery for 30mins to see if the bank angle sensor will reset. if you know where its at, look and see if its still mounted upright. it might of slipped off the bracket.

all else fails, call patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited tomorrow.
