talk me out of a 2013 Yammaha FZ8

I want somthing a little larger than a 650 and the FZ8 is really looking good.

inline 4 should be smooth and plenty of power

not that I need it

It must suck in some way other than not having wind protection

look at how fun it would be to do a valve check/adjustment.

That said, I would just get a Tiger 800XC

Or an FZ1

You are completely right, this is actually the bike I was I was being told about.

I think it does have adjustable sispension too.

Seems like an overall killer package.

I'd prolly throw some slicks on the versys and keep it for the track. It's pretty ugly these days from two low sides on the pavement and one high side in the dirt.

I commute, so the windshield is desirable during the winter.

I never rode the FZ08 but the FZ09 felt like a . Granted, I ride a Speed Triple R, but the FZ09 felt cheap (fit and finish) and underpowered. The ergonomics was too upright for my liking and the suspension was very soft. The throttle was also very twitchy but that could be due to the fact I was riding a demo bike. I would rather get an FZ1.

This.

Test rode the FZ8 and didn't much care for it, but I would take the '13(?) with adjustable suspension over the FZ09. Still, if you gonna go that route, I'd go whole hog with an FZ1. Had an '07 and other than the I4 soft down low, I actually quite like the overall package.

Still, if it were my money, Steet/Speed Triple.

Or... I know where there is an almost brand new '07 SV1000S.

I can't say anything bad about the FZ8 or FZ9 as I haven't ridden either, but lately I've got my eye on a Triumph Tiger 1050...
