Finally ready to do a track day......

As the title states, Im finally at the point work wise where I can actually plan stuff, and would like to do my first track day (ordered my new AStars SP-1 suit today).....

Biggest question now for you guys......which track first? MSRH or TWS (Texas World Speedway)? Ill be riding my Hayabusa, and if I remember correctly MSRH is a tighter, more technical track than TWS (Texas World Speedway). The biggest drawback to TWS (Texas World Speedway) is that its not until July.....and I dont think I want to be in a full black suit in July.....

Thoughts?

GSS...... if you're new to.the track, more turns per session will get you acclimated much faster than blasting down the front strait at TWS (Texas World Speedway). Aside from that, pick the one that fits your schedule best imo.

Hi, I met you at KEM's house. TWS (Texas World Speedway) would be your best bet on your bike.

Yeah, I remember you. I originally thought TWS (Texas World Speedway) would be best just because its more open, but not sure I really feel like doing my first track day in the middle of July haha

Yeah, it will be hot. There is MRSH this Saturday if you can make it. I'll be there.

Because of his bike I think TWS (Texas World Speedway) would be at the bottom of my starting list. Every two turns he could easily pass anyone in lvl 1 down all the straights on bike power alone. At gss or msrh he would be "forced" into following less powered bikes into corners in order to be able to pass on the shorter straights. Regardless, make the one that fits your schedule and have fun no matter what track it's on.

I have to 2nd that assessment as I've seen a 'busa or 2 in Novice at MSRH. I guess TWS (Texas World Speedway) is wider then MSRH but MSRH seems to have more paved runoff area at the corners that you approach with the most speed.

I think GSS would be a pain on a heavier bike like that. I know it's a lot of work even on a VFR800 that starts around 525 pounds. MSRH give's you the tight GSS-like section back between the bus-stop and launch, but also some room to straighten it up and relax a bit. Plus it still gives you some room to push a bike like that past 150 in a spot or 2 as long as you're ready to shut it down for the next corner.

Still, for that first track day I think you could go to a go-cart track and still leave at the end of the day grinning ear to ear!

I agree with the find an event that fits your schedule. I saw an old preacher on a busa that he rode to the track. Ran all day and then rode home. He was grinning ear to ear and could get that big bike around the track pretty darn well.

being your first TD, you're going to learn a ton no matter where you go. Just make sure to leave the ego at home and forget everything you think you already know about riding.... Don't take this the wrong way, but you don't know squat.

Enjoy and welcome to you newst addiction.

The track makes a meth addiction seem like you can quit at any time.

TWS (Texas World Speedway). It's long, wide, and very forgiving. Just control the temptation to park it everywhere, and dissapear down the front straight on the busa's power.

Not to mention: it's going away within a few years, so you want to ride it at least once before it becomes suburbia.
