Thanks for the advise. All this talking about sliding definitely makes me want to buy some extra protection.

spread your arms and legs out to slow down the speed if it breaks it at least it is repairable. J/K.
It is hard to say or explain what to do in each case. Some low side still ended up tumbling. Best bet is to keep your eyes open and see what is going on. Like VFR-racer said, keep your mind and body in good condition would help alot in recovering injuries. Always stretch before go out on the session.

i just did crash, got rear ended, i was stopped, got hit by a car doing about 30. i didn't realize what happened but i knew i wanted to try to saty on the bike. that is what i've done when i've gone down 1 other time on an enduro doing about 50. I ended up sitting on the bike while it slid, got up and walked away with very few very minor scratches. the way i see it if you can stay on top of the bike then you aren't on the ground and the bike can't land on top of you

Put all your gear on.. ride your bicycle down the road as fast as you can. go into the grass and jump off... that is a very slow impact fall. and gives you an idea of what it is like...

Doesn't matter how fast you fall that could do some damage but it is how you fall determined the damages.

Taking martial arts will only enhance your ability to react faster in these situations. When you learn to fall, it becomes a habit and you dont even think about how you fall, but the damage is minimalized so much people ask if it hurts or think i'm hiding my pain. So in a way, yea, its good to take either judo or shaolin style....both are very good and recommended.

The idea is to fall in a contour like way and roll with the momentum thats being passed on to you to minimize damage. NEVER LAND with your tail bone dead on first, always either slightly to the left or right. Visualize it, then execute.

Make sure you always grip your legs in a knot-like shape without tightening up the muscles.....and hug yourself or raise your arms up when you start rolling. make sure you always roll, it helps alot if you look how you fall, its hard to look but dont close your eyes.

You can also try not falling
